No, it doesn't.

Christians would disagree with you there.

Regardless, christianity is a religion of hate. The only reason they appear nice nowadays is because it is more politically correct. They can't get away anymore with always spewing hate or exterminating other cultures. So, they settle for the next best thing, which is to convert you and make you hate yourself.

You are the embodiment of what I mean. You're already bending over backward to defend them even though they hate you.

Edit.

Every church group I've ever been invited to always start out their lecture to me with something like "god loves you, but..." and then proceed to the love the sinner hate the sin bullshit.

Been there, done that. Best decision i ever made excluding my father and siblings from my life.

Enablers, the lot of them. Religions say that they are peaceful, but their religious literature tells you otherwise. Their religious dogma lead some to extremism, and thus even the most benign seeming believer enables the possibility of spawning extremist amongst their midst. Look at the parents of the bombers who 'didn't know their sons were radicalised', etc. Religions enable extremism backed up with their belief in a divine actor that says what they're doing is in his glory. Fuck that shit and every religious enabler out there.

Kuli, I hate your dogma but love you nevertheless... :rotflmao:

You're the one with "a religion of hate" -- you aren't even interested in facts.

Nothing in the Bible says to hate anyone, homosexual or not.

And yet most christians disagree with you. Most christians believe the bible specifically tells them to hate us.

Trying to be accepted by the people who hate you is a strong drive. I get it. At some point, you desperately want to be part of their family. I get that. But this bending over backward to deny what's right in front of you is getting tiring.

"Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones." (Psalms 137:9, KJV)

"But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me." (Luke 19:27)

"And he smote the men of Bethshemesh, because they had looked into the ark of the LORD, even he smote of the people fifty thousand and threescore and ten men: and the people lamented, because the LORD had smitten many of the people with a great slaughter." (I Samuel 6:19)

"If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers;" (Deuteronomy 13: 6)

"Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him: But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people." (Deuteronomy 13:8-9)

"Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt. Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass." (I Samuel 15:2-3)

"Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword. Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished." (Isaiah 13:15-16)

"And we utterly destroyed them, as we did unto Sihon king of Hesbon, utterly destroying the men, women, and children, of every city. But all the cattle, and the spoil of the cities we took for a prey to ourselves." (Deuteronomy 3:6-7)

Hate your family and love Jesus.

"If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple." (Luke 14:26)

What sort of twisted logic will you apply to this? The words of Jesus are emphatic, hate

your parents,
your spouse,
your children,
your brothers and sisters

and your own life.

I find it unfair to deny the Old Testament as it says one should not lie with another man yet here we all are using it to prove a point we support.

Let's see some examples of hate from the teachings of Jesus before condemning every Christian.

Keep kidding yourself. Gay youth flee and have always fled from areas where people talk just like the parents in this video to big cities that have gay communities. It doesn't happen the other way around. Why do you suppose that is?

I don't think that's the point. Yes of course urban areas in the 21st century are often the frontiers of dealing effectively with diversity because they are the largest groups of people, and thus more likely to have experience with diversity.

But obviously there are welcoming, fair-minded people living in farm villages, and there are urban bigots. Or is it obvious if people reduce urban and rural areas to stereotypes and then don't think beyond that?

I know I've said on here before that as a young adult with zero real-world experience of the southern US, with only television portrayals to go by, the first time I heard James Carville debate his opponents during the Clinton campaign, I was in all sincerity astonished that a person with that accent was making credible, persuasive, witty, logical, intellectual points. My ignorance came about because the southern accent has been typecast in media as shorthand for "bigoted yokel."

Just watched this video.

Reminds me of something out of wrong turn.

Also reminds me of Cariie Whites mother. Complete freaks.

Isn't Luke New Testament?

I saw the video yesterday and it made me really upset :(

Although I also read that he got the donations over $ 90 k now woot! Hopefully He can put the donations to good use and make the community proud :) AM rooting for him.

I would agree with that. Not sure how from there we would say that minorities frequently having negative experiences with tolerance in "yokel America", and often growing up wanting to move away for that reason, is merely a "trope", as Deja implies.

But obviously there are welcoming, fair-minded people living in farm villages, and there are urban bigots. Or is it obvious if people reduce urban and rural areas to stereotypes and then don't think beyond that?

Yes but I'm not going to pretend those proportions are anything close to equal or that it's merely a cliche to point out that people outside of the mainstream template will frequently run into problems in "yokel America."

Prejudgments people may hold regarding specific accents are beside the point. Deja's kidding himself that people only react to something like this because of the accent involved. There was an enormous backlash to the rant against Asians by the UCLA blond chick not because everyone loves troping UCLA students as racists but because it was offensive. The fact that you can much more easily find a video with people talking like the parents in this one spouting all kinds of offensive ideas, whether it's supporting the Confederacy or ranting against homosexuals or espousing racist ideas or opposing science in textbooks, is a result of the cultural worldview far more common in areas where people also speak with this accent. Not because the media or some other organization is going out of their way to only show us people with redneck accents doing it.

Quoted for truth. Calling Jews greedy isn't acceptable bigotry, but labeling all Southerners as retarded is.

It is your self-balming belief that the only reason this video gained traction was because people enjoy stigmatizing Southerners. This video would have been offensive in any accent or in any language.

And California passed the anti-gay measure, but you won't see it pictured with any significant anti-gay population

You're seeing your own selective reality. The Supreme Court case surrounding that measure has been a hot ticket item of gay activist interest for years now.

As for migration of gays, a couple of factors go unmentioned. Anonymity of cities is also a draw, especially in a hookup culture. There is no such thing as anonymity in rural areas. Everyone knows what goes on. The second factor is the sheer rarity of gay men period.

The first doesn't apply in any way to people fleeing from their own families and communities due to lack of acceptance, which this video clearly shows. And the lack of anonymity would not be a great factor for anyone other than a closetcase, and it also wouldn't be a factor if rural areas were not so culturally connotated with puritan style moral judgments about the neighbor's religion or morality or lack thereof.

I don't know anything about what my neighbors do sexually or how or if they worship and I don't care to know.

You can pretend all you want that this is just a case of "the injustice goes on everywhere equally, and people just enjoy associating it more with certain regions of the U.S.", and I can throw up all kinds of maps showing voting habits or gay rights maps and prove you wrong.
