And it was completely over for me when N64 hit the scene. Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time kept me strictly confined to my bedroom for over three months. I kid you not.
I have a really weird habit with video games and it has nothing to do with getting frustrated with a game. Sometimes I just stop playing a game, I'll be really into it, playing the living hell out of it and just stop, whether I beat it or not.
Example: FFXII. I got so much in that game, put so many hours into that game, did a bunch of side shit and right before the last part of the game I just stopped playing for no reason at all. I haven't gone back to it since, nothing wrong with the game, I was really into it, enjoying it and I just stopped.
I like the point and click adventures.
So, I've been listening to this podcast called 'RetroforceGo', which if you're into video games at all, especially 'retro' games I suggest listening to it. But this spawned an idea for a thread on here.
What consoles did you first get and which ones did you grow up on? I am generally curious pre-ps1. Any generation of video gamers are welcome to answer as well.
Well, the first system I remember having was the NES, but I don't really remember it all that much. But what I do remember and what I was most excited for as a kid was a Sega Genesis. Here's my little story on getting a Sega:
I had an Uncle who came over on Christmas eve and hand my brothers and I each a present. One year we asked for a Genesis from our Parents and when that Uncle showed up, he showed up with Genesis Games as presents (unfortunately I don't remember which games). That had to be one of the happiest days of my life because I knew what was coming the next day, from that Christmas on I considered myself a Gamer.
Later on we got a SNES and I loved that as well, but I played my Sega a whole lot more.
