Gameboy and NES .. oh the good old classics.
Later SNES, then nothing .. stuck to the gameboy :)

Well, the only consoles I had of my own were an Atari and PS3. The other consoles I played with were from mt friends/cousins.

My cousings started with having an Atari as well, then a Nintendo, Master System, Mega Drive, Mega CD, Game Boy, Playstation and Playstation 2. Some friends lent me the Sega Saturn and Nintendo 64 :D

I remember with the NES, you had to blow on the game cartridges to MAYBE make the game work. Those were the days...

My first was a NES. had a Game boy also. Then it was sega. upgraded to game boy color from a GB. Then it was a Nintentdo 64 and a GBA. Next gen was a gamecube and a PS2. This gen its a DS and Xbox 360. Of course I have a PC also.

What was funny, about a month ago, I bought a Super Mario Land 3: Wario's World off ebay for 5 bucks and it was the best 5 bucks I ever spent. Love that game ALOT. Oh cherished childhood memories.

Edit: One of my biggest things with me is that if I get frustrated/bored with a game, I stop playing it and move onto something else. For example, I stopped playing Phantom Hourglass for DS like a year ago and I picked it up and started to play it again. Such a great game on the DS.

The first console I had was an Atari 2600 lol. It was something my parents saw one day at a garage sale and they just decided to picked it up. The only games I remember playing on it were Pong, Pac-Man and some kind of math racing game. I had more games, a bag full, but can't remember what they were.

A few years later I remember begging my parents to get a NES and coming home one day to see they got me a Sega Genesis, which I have stored in my closet to this day, instead. I was a bit disappointed at first, but that quickly faded.

Two years after that I got a Game Boy and a SNES and played the hell out of those. Somewhere I still have that GB which I play from time to time lol.

My later consoles I got/have is a PS1 and PS2, PSP, and a Wii. The Wii isn't really mine, it's my brother's, but he dropped it off here one day and hasn't picked it up.

I also used to let my sister borrow my PS1 and while she had that I'd have her N64.

The first system I ever played was the NES. Then, I ended up playing an Atari soon after playing the NES. However, the very first system that I owned was the SNES. Besides Super Mario World, which automatically came with the purchase of the SNES, the first game that was bought for me was Street Fighter 2.

My first game machine was a Commodore 128. I bought it off my brother for $100 and got a few hundred games with it. My fav of all of them would have to be The Last Ninja Trilogy, bloody brilliant games for the Commodore.

Then my first true console was A Sega MegaDrive (Genesis). Why did they rename it Genisis in the states?

Then came a SNES and a Gameboy. By then I had become a gaming addict. If you've seen the South Park episode where Cartman can't wait for the Wii, that was me on a regular basis.

Anyway then I got a Sega Saturn, Playstation, N64, Gameboy Colour, Dreamcast, PS2, Xbox, PSP, Xbox360 & Wii.

PS3 will be my next buy. Thankfully I'm no longer addicted.....well not so much. :D

I had a SNES for years, then a PS1, Dreamcast, PS2 and onto the Xbox. I have a 360 now.

And it was completely over for me when N64 hit the scene. Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time kept me strictly confined to my bedroom for over three months. I kid you not.

Those are exactly the 3 games I loved playing on N64

NES. I remember blowing on the cartridges too. I would put them under my shirt and blow through the shirt and it worked. The Marios, Duck Hunt, Zelda and others.

Then it was SNES, we were going to to get a Sega console before the SNES at a garage sale, but the guy dropped it and it broke right when we were about to pay him for it. SNES came with Mario world and Mario Kart. We got Yoshi's Island, Zelda, Ninja Turtles, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Donkey Kong and others. Oh yeah ZOOP! lol.

Then it was N64 and it came with Pokemon Snap lol. We got Mario 64, Perfect Dark, Zelda, Smash bros, Wave Race, Shadow Man and others. This was the last console we got as a gift.

Then Sega Dreamcast with Sonic. DOA, Seaman, Some racing game and by this time my brother was now old enough to buy games so he ended up buying more games than me and I cant remember them all.

Then for a while we didn't get anything. Untill most recently we got an Xbox360 and Wii. I also have a Nintendo DS. I never had any handhelds before that. Between those three too many games.

I have a really weird habit with video games and it has nothing to do with getting frustrated with a game. Sometimes I just stop playing a game, I'll be really into it, playing the living hell out of it and just stop, whether I beat it or not.

Example: FFXII. I got so much in that game, put so many hours into that game, did a bunch of side shit and right before the last part of the game I just stopped playing for no reason at all. I haven't gone back to it since, nothing wrong with the game, I was really into it, enjoying it and I just stopped.

Ditto. I spent hours on this game, raising the best Chocobo etc only to quit near then end. I still think that one day I will go back to it. I just hope my saves on the memory cards will still work.

Hmm My first would be SEGA Genesis then Gameboy then Sega MD 2 -- > SEGA Saturn (Was a sega fan) lol. Though I didt get dreamcast.

I had a NES, SNES, Sega Megadrive II, Game Boy pocket, Game Boy Advance (the original) and now I have a PS2 (though I don't have many games).

I am a big fan of classic games, especially SNES and PC. My favourite games of all time are the classic Sierra and LucasArts adventure games for the PC, especially King's Quest. I still play them today :D. King's Quest 6 is the king of all games!

I don't really play many modern games. I think that today too much emphasis is set on graphics and the gameplay and plot suffer for it. Also, I prefer "cartoony" looking games because in my opinion fancy 3D games tend to look gray/brownish and washed out.

My first, a Vic-20, and Commodore 64 alongside an Atari 2600. Then the NES, Gameboy, PS1, PS2, Wii, Xbox360.

I prefer PC. I'm with morgaes. LucasArts and SierraOnline games were my favorites. King's Quest 6 was definitely the best of the KQ series. "Old lamps for new!" And Quest for Glory IV was the best of the QFG series. Also, Simon the Sorcerer 1/2 (not 3) and so on. I like the point and click adventures.

My very first video game system:

Yes, with the wood paneling. This one came about six months later, but we didn't play it as much:

The best Pokemon game IMHO would be Gold/Silver where they have both places Gym battles.

I remember spending endless hours on my SNES and Sega Genesis. SNES was definitely my favorite though. There are still some games on that system I have yet to beat. Not totally sure if that is for lack of trying or if video games were a lot more harder to beat back in the day.

I also remember when PSONE and N64 were considered advanced. After the PS2 era really started to decline, I stopped finding video games I could lose myself in. Which is a bit depressing for me.

My kingdom for a good RPG.

So, I've been listening to this podcast called 'RetroforceGo', which if you're into video games at all, especially 'retro' games I suggest listening to it. But this spawned an idea for a thread on here.

What consoles did you first get and which ones did you grow up on? I am generally curious pre-ps1. Any generation of video gamers are welcome to answer as well.

Well, the first system I remember having was the NES, but I don't really remember it all that much. But what I do remember and what I was most excited for as a kid was a Sega Genesis. Here's my little story on getting a Sega:

I had an Uncle who came over on Christmas eve and hand my brothers and I each a present. One year we asked for a Genesis from our Parents and when that Uncle showed up, he showed up with Genesis Games as presents (unfortunately I don't remember which games). That had to be one of the happiest days of my life because I knew what was coming the next day, from that Christmas on I considered myself a Gamer. :D

Later on we got a SNES and I loved that as well, but I played my Sega a whole lot more.

the first system was an Atari 2600. Don't remember the games for it. But i know it was the very first one i had and generally is what really got me into video games. I was really the only one in family that has stuck with video game playing all these years later. i'm still playing them with just about every system at my disposal...need to find a place so i can play my Dreamcast as well. :D
