I have always like bodybuilder and actor Gary Conway.
It was interesting to read Gary was "discovered" (picked up?) in a California health club in the mid-1950s by Phineas Stuart Rosenberg Jr., nicknamed "Pinky". He was a Jewish college student at the time who was into nude male physique photography. Pinky later founded the Troy Saxon Studios. Gary did almost-nude modeling arranged by Pinky for gay men's magazines during 1955-57 when he was a student at UCLA. I'll bet Pinky had a lot of fun with young stud Gary putting cream cheese in his bagel! Gary was still using his real name, Gary Carmody, when he posed for the April -June 1956 edition of Body Beautiful.
Through connections in Hollywood, Gary went on to work in film and television. He is best remembered for his work on the TV shows "Burke's Law" and "Land Of The Giants". Years later at the age of 37, still in great shape, but with his career fading and probably in need of ready cash, Gary did a almost-nude photo spread for the August 1973 edition of Playgirl. I remember I was very disappointed he did not show his meat for that session! I believe Playgirl should have had a policy if you are going to be paid for a photo spread then YOU GOTTA SHOW THE MEAT!
