Vintage Wines

I should be keeping up...but I am drinking my way through the cellar.

And a lot of them just weren't worth saving.

I am missing wine...with Covid, my taste for it is gone right now.

^Could be a good time to use up any vile wine you have lying around!

Did that...and actually dumped a number of bottles down the drain over the last few months before Covid....if only I had known. hahaha.

Had this wine on Christmas Eve from a magnum bottle together with friends for dinner,
opened 2h before, not decanted, a fine old claret, medium weight, nice plummy fruit, almost zero tannin left.
We had to finish the bottle soon as the wine started to get weak in the knees after less than 1 hour.

Covid and the subsequent pneumonia/bronchitis have destroyed my palate.

After not touching a glass for the last 5 days...I thought a little sip.

It is like poison fish, wrapped in rotting cabbage with cleaning chemicals sprinkled over.

One of my favourite 2nd wines from Château Cos d'Estournel,
rich, chocolaty - it`s powerfully built with considerable extract.

The wine is huge and solid, with plenty of tannins and dense.
At the same time, a juicy blackberry fruit drives the wine into an opulent aftertaste.
Lifespan until 2035.
Good to have another case of 12 in my cellar together with some 2009ers and a few magnums from the 2 vintages.

Shared the bottle with my friend and salami pizza & pizza fungi -
we were simply in the mood to celebrate the moment.
