Is it wrong to get high in the morning? Like as soon as you wake-up?

I find it helps w/ the day. Particularly high CBD strains.

Whenever you use something or someone to help you make it through the day, it should be a red flag to you. The fact that you are posting it here, indicates it does. We all need help and support in life because life can be tough, but drugs and alcohol are not the answer. I hope you are not already deep in your dependence. Time to seek other help, don't you think?

MJ has been in my life for 20+ years. It's got me through cancer and helps w/ tremors like my insulin helps w/ diabetes.

I've quit twice..... both times coincided w/ serious depression that took years of cognitive therapy to recover from.

My primary care doctor only said, 'be careful w/ the munchies' when I told him.

Supervisors at previous work places actually they preferred me high BC I was much easier to get along w/ and always hit my goals.

Then I looked at the definition of addiction under DSM-IV (meet 3+ of the following):

1. Tolerance. Do you use more alcohol or drugs over time? Nope

2. Withdrawal. Have you experienced physical or emotional withdrawal when you have stopped using? Have you experienced anxiety, irritability, shakes, sweats, nausea, or vomiting? Emotional withdrawal is just as significant as physical withdrawal. Irritable

3. Limited control. Do you sometimes drink or use drugs more than you would like? Do you sometimes drink to get drunk? Does one drink lead to more drinks sometimes? Do you ever regret how much you used the day before? Nope

4. Negative consequences. Have you continued to use even though there have been negative consequences to your mood, self-esteem, health, job, or family? Nope

5. Neglected or postponed activities. Have you ever put off or reduced social, recreational, work, or household activities because of your use? Nope

6. Significant time or energy spent. Have you spent a significant amount of time obtaining, using, concealing, planning, or recovering from your use? Have you spend a lot of time thinking about using? Have you ever concealed or minimized your use? Have you ever thought of schemes to avoid getting caught? Nope

7. Desire to cut down. Have you sometimes thought about cutting down or controlling your use? Have you ever made unsuccessful attempts to cut down or control your use? I do sometimes cut down BC I'm too busy

I've quit drinking alcohol, legitimately prescribed opioids, and cigarettes. It's not really a question of can I quit. That's easy.

You didn't mention all this in your OP.

I wanted it to be more of a philosophical/ religious question - is it okay to go through life in an altered state of mind?

Does being baked actually enhance your level of consciousness on a spiritual level (like some say w/ LSD)?

Am I a bad or good person because I like to get high?

For example, is Woody Harrelson a better person now? A better actor?

Used to live with a person who smoked MJ daily, had run a coffeeshop (that´s where they sell MJ in The Netherlands) and had been a heroin addict. He said the fun part about any drug experience is that it was going to end eventually.

Somewhat, but it order to do that it takes away other aspects of consciousness away and this can be construed as doing harm in the long run. MJ will give you slight hallucinations and insights, but LSD is a whole different ballgame... they don´t call what happens to you when you take LSD a ´trip´ for nothing.

Peter Hitchens seemed to think so.

Hunter S. Thompson on the other hand, wanted drugs legalized and street dealers locked up for selling drugs of inferior quality.

For example, is Woody Harrelson a better person now? A better actor?

No idea? Did you know him before he got involved with drugs?

Sounds a lot like life. We all fail at life eventually (dying).

Peter Hitchens? He's like the bad Baldwin. I liked his brother more.

I observe that the social compact has been broken. There no longer is economic security for work, therefore I owe that system nothing. I seek to undermine it by wasting my core competencies and seeking to learn different ones.

There probably is no God so smoking weed hardly makes someone any more self-serving or passive than your std capitalist pig.... gorging themselves in materialism.

I just know Woody sucked in Cheers. Although he has kids I believe. That makes a big difference.

Rastafarians and some Hindu ascetics use marijuana in religious context. It strikes me, at least as far as Hinduism goes, that it's used intentionally as an aid to prayer, ritual and meditation. I don't think it's generally smoked just to be baked, or even necessarily for pleasure. If your ambition is to enhance your level of consciousness, as you say, I would think that its use would best be deliberate, and not casual.

Anecdotally, when I was younger, I found my way to some clammy rooms where religious songs were being sung and the assembly was smoking huge quantities of pot. One young man had fashioned a board fitted with over one hundred joints in such a way that you could smoke them all simultaneously. I abstained, but the air itself was enough to make me a little high. I enjoyed the worship circle, but retired early.

Hindus are some seriously laid back people. There's definitely feel a human bond formed when sharing a bong. Combining breathing techniques while smoking sounds very worth googling.

IDK, trying to cut back on THC while using it medically all day is my goal. It is more enjoyable if it's semi-habitual... like the old school who used to have a cocktail or two at lunch, before dinner, and a night cap (everyday). Improve the benefit/cost ratio.

It just seems like functioning alcoholics have a better general reputation than weed smokers. Like cannabis is the more dangerous drug just because that's what they grew up being told.
