As easy as it is to say -- and as difficult and costly as it can be to do -- i hope they "sue the bastards" !!

hopefully, they can find a gay friendly lawyer who will take their case on contingency - and it will take 2-4 years but they will doubtless win SOMETHING !!
AND IF FORMALLY SERVED - WAL-MART MAY very well setlle to avoid further headlines- but even that will take some time !!
I hope they can do it - and win some big bucks !
this is far more important than spilling a little hot coffee on yourself - and that was worth what at least 1M???

Re: Wal-Mart Bans Gay Couple for NOT Shoplifting

what a shocking story. i'm saddened that that could actually happen.

Wal-Mart predator prices to put local merchants out of business.
They predator bully vendors to reduce costs year over year or else - and go offshore - forget the "we buy American" bull shit.

I ONLY shop there because my Christmas bonus is a Wal-Mart gift card.
Used to be a gift card to a local grocer and home-center chain, but they closed the home center while they were still profitable, and boss got a better deal from Wally - not that he'd ever step foot into the place.

I got a Sam's club membership because I needed new tires on one of my cars, and my bonus covered the cost.

I much prefer trying to support American and local to the extent I can. I'm a realist, but I won't support Wally-World. They put my customers out of business.

Well i'm certainly not going to be shopping at Wal-Mart or Sam's Club unless it's an absolutely last resort - i'll just stick with Target and Costco, especially since they are closer to where I currently live.

WalMart can get away with it because they are the big gazilla and most of their customers believe the same way WalMart does.

It truly sucks!

From a quote, above:

"But that doesn't mean there won't be court action. Paolucci and Hitchcock e-mailed The Tribune a copy of a letter from a law firm representing Wal-Mart seeking 10 times the retail price of the items the store still claims were shoplifted by Paolucci. The letter states the matter will be dropped if Paolucci submits the $158.40 payment."

Why is it that extortion by a corporation — and the RIAA — is legal in the U.S., when an individual making the identical demand would be imprisoned for 30 life terms plus a day?

That's a good question.

Paolucci should fire back a letter saying that Walmart owes them $1584.29 for emotional duress and distress, and that the matter will be dropped if Walmart pays up.
