I've been wanting a tattoo for quite some time and picked out a design a year ago, and still love it today. The tattoo I want is on his right arm. I'm part indian, and have a similar build (not as defined...yet...) so I think can pull it off. I know it will last forever and that doesn't bother me. Let me hear what the gay community will think?

Hey,riden3--
I give you a tentaive yes vote-- even though I personally would not get a tatoo I think that if you have been thinking about it for a while and still like the idea you should go for it! Tatoos can be very tasteful-- just not my style. I've thought about getting my nipples pierced, but have been too chicken so far--so I say don't be like me--and go for it-- as long as you won't regret it somewhere down the line-- and even then, tatoos can be erased-- I know because my friend did it-- so I say have fun and be comfortable with your body..|

If it's something you really want, go ahead. I love tattoos as long as their well thought out.

I can definitely understand your aprehension...I went through the same thing. But I just got my second one a few weeks ago (pics in my gallery). I haven't been disappointed (although, you may go through the "wonder if I should've done that" phase for a few days after you get one...that will pass and you will be happy with it).

I don't have any tattoos myself, I once thought about getting one, but...

...wait 2-3 more years
...get a unique one, no tribal or asian symbols
...find a good tattoo "artist"
...don't get a small, shy one

I'd be tempted to say get a temporary Henna one to see if it suits you, but we had a presentation yesterday on more and more people becoming allergic to the dye they use to blacken the henna and from there it's all downhill.

The reason it's all downhill after that is because you become sensitive to the benzoate preservative in the dye, and from then on can become allergic to anything preserved with benzoate... almost everything not preseved with sulphur dioxode is preserved with benzoate, so you basically become allergic to a lot of diverse things.

If you go this (henna) route, ask whether the dye contains PPD, or para phenol di-amine. If yes, I would avoid the temporary.

Personally, I like tattoos. In small numbers, though.

I gave you a yes vote. It sounds like your not doing this on impulse, and it is well thought out. Next I'd find a tattoo artist you feel comfortable with, and stick with THAT one. I got one last spring, and will be getting another one here will soon. I also pierced my nipples last Sept. it hurt like hell, but don't regret getting them done. Good luck!!!

I lost a twin brother to a drunk driver.

He loved Dolphins, so i had a ring of Dolphins tatted around my ankle..

I LOVE IT.....Silly I know

I just got my second one about a month ago. It's your body and if you like the design you've picked out, just do it. I agree with what was said above, go to an ARTIST not just some schmuck. You may end up paying a bit more, but you'll be glad you did.

No, don't do it! Why would you want to permanently disfigure your body?

But it's your business. If you want it and it makes you happy, then yes.

Just don't put it on a part of your body that will sag when you get older.

...or one of the barb-wire arm band types. It may still look funky now (since mid-90s) but there's going to be a loooot of grampas and grannies walking around with them in 40 years time.

Well said. By the way, anyone know the significance of the barbed-wire ones? Are they supposed to convey some sort of message of some sort?

And the ones that go the length of an arm - looks like various arrorws?

Does it make a difference if it is the left arm or right arm?

And what does having one near the groin signify?

Is there like a "code of armour" that explains all of this and what is in and what is out and the messages they are supposed to convey?

Inquiring minds just want to know and I am but a mere village idiot so I need things explained to me.](*,)

  !oops!

The lizard is 'new' one. The old one (purple armband) will be re-worked (color and style) to more closely match him.

He took about 3 1/2 hours.
