I had it removed when I was 11 years old.

Not removed. Never ever had an operation done on me up to now.

Still have mine safetly tucked in there some where

Mine was taken out during another surgery that I had, an Indiana Pouch Procedure for bladder cancer. My Dr said they needed the room for the artificial bladder. Glad it wasn't near my brain !

yes, it was removed when i was 13 and before surgery i had my first shave.. luckily i didn't get hard when the female nurse removed my little bush i was so proud of.. must have been already gay back then.. ;)

I still have it but I've heard that when it ruptures that it's really painful. I also heard that if not taken to the hospital within a certain amount of time after bursting that you can die. Is there truth to that?

If you are really asking if peritonitis is a cause of potentially lethal abdominal pain, then yes and yes.

Scariest thing ever. One minute I was walking through Central Park in NYC, the next thing I knew, I woke up naked and with a gaping wound, covered in crushed ice in a hotel-room bath tub, and minus my appendix.

Were you stabbed or something??

The onset on appendicitis is never that fast.

Either you were misdiagnosed, or you dreamt it.

It was really painfull and I did get peritonitis and I almost did die so I am well shot of it.

I had mine removed when I was 8, after it ruptured.

I had been feeling unwell for days so my mum took me to the doctors, who said it was tonsillitus (useless fucker).

Anyway, it ruptured on a Saturday morning, was rushed to hospital and all I can remember about the whole episode was the doctor sticking his finger up my arse.

Mine ruptured when I was 19. I was working at a grocery and they found me on the floor of one of the aisles passed out. My boyfriend called my parents to tell them I was in the hospital.... they didn't come to visit but sent their preacher. He walked into my room and decided to pray for me because it was god's way of punishing me for being gay. I threw the Gideon's Bible at him and yelled "get the fuck out of my room!" Ah, the memories....

I had mine removed when I was 12.....it had not yet burst but was close and there was infection around it that concerned the doctors. I remember it was great because there were three of us that had it out the same time; the nurses finally just told us where we could get the ice cream and popsicles if we promised to walk and get better!

One of the benefits of a small town hospital where your mom was a nurse!

Still have it. And - almost totally off the subject - still have my tonsils, too, which is odd for a child of the 50's when they would yank them out at the first cough or sore throat.
