I watched Sex (Ed) The Movie a couple of nights ago, which talks about sex ed films that were made for all sorts markets over the years, from school to military.
But it got me thinking...apparently a lot of these films were made. And yet I don't recall very many crossing my path. In fifth grade, there was a day when the boys and girls were separated, with each group seeing a movie. I assume now that it's likely the girls got something on periods. The only memory I have of the boys' movie was stuff like: "Soon, your arm pits will stink, and you'll need deodorant." There was nothing that I recall that prepared me for other things that would be coming my way, like constant unwanted erections.
The only other one I recall was when I was in 12th grade, and it was on AIDS. This was outside a health class--everyone in the school sooner or later saw this film (although it was in the form of a VHS tape). I can't remember anything about it, except seeing it, although I have to think it added to my terror of AIDS...
There may have been some film or other that I forgot in a health class--but since I've forgotten it, it couldn't have left much of an impression at the time...
