Watching Brad

Neil,

I wanted to get through all the posted chapters before I posted a reply. And this being my 1st post in JUB. THANKS for a wonderful story!!! You sure know how to tug at the heart strings. Keep up the great work. I look forward to many more chapters.

What is that blue ribbon tied for, the gift box, or Brad's....???

It was Brad's....??? ..|

(That's why Ted had the best time opening it. ;) )

And hi, KC. Thanks for hanging in there and thank you for honouring me with your first post at Jub. I hope you enjoy the rest of the story.

Neil, it seems you have gathered quite a following! It must be gratifying to know so many choose to make their first post as a result of your wonderful talents.

Yet again, you have penned another wonderful chapter. I can't wait to see how Brad and Barry prepared the fire pit and to see the fireworks...|

Gary

Such Love!! It is beautiful. I teared up several times reading this chapter. It is so important that parents share the love and discipline like Ted display through out this story.
Thank you Neil.

If it is to be a movie, can I help with the *Brad* auditions? If we find one with all the attributes except for the chipped tooth, we can make arrangements with a dentist:p

OOooo ... I So LIKE the way You THINK, Ken!!

(How about Brad Pitt with Green contact lenses?)

Dear Readers

The story of Ted and Brad and family is temporarily 'on hold'.

Sam, the dog you met in the story, is a real dog. She is my roommate's dog, but I have been taking care of her for almost 12 years now. (She is 14 years old.) Unfortunately, her age is catching up with her and she is not doing very well now. For the past 2 days, she has needed help simply to stand up. I fear that, as soon as the Labour Day weekend is over, she will no-longer be with us.

Needless to say, the story hasn't been on my mind very much and, when it has, I haven't felt like writing anything. I spend most of my time sitting on the sofa watching over Sam.

I'm keeping her as comfortable as I can. That's about all I can do for now.

I'll keep you posted, and I'll get back to the story as soon as I can, but it's going to be a few days at least.

Thank you for understanding, and take care.
Neil

Neil,

First things first. I am so sorry to hear about Sam. I know how difficult things can be at times like this, so please take care of her. We can wait for how ever long it takes for you to adjust to the current times.

Our thoughts are with you, your roommate and SAM!

Craiger

I understand you, Neil. I love dogs, and I remember clearly when my grandfather's dog died at age 16. I really loved that dog, but I think it was better that way, because I didn't want him to suffer.

I agree with Craiger. We can wait, and our thoughts are with you, your roommate and Sam.

Fred.

Neil, first things are first. You are needed by both your roommate and Sam right now. Brad and Ted, are in a good place right now. We can pick up their story once again once things in your own life are taken care of.....

Neil
I'm with you on this. We have lost 3 of our 4 Long Haired Dachsies in the past two years. The last one was our first one and we had to make the decision earlier this year. It felt like somebody reached into my chest and ripped my heart out, but it was the only rational thing to do for her. We still have a beautiful 7 y/o chocolate dapple who has adjusted very well to losing her 3 *sisters* and has become a great little dog.
These decisions are difficult to make until you make them. You then wonder why it was so difficult.
Don't worry about the story for now. Dogs are people too and deserve the best help and understanding.
K:cry:

I understand Neil. I have a dog, and a cat. They become so much of the family. Give Sam all the comfort that is required. My prayers are with you and Sam.

Neil, I am so sad to hear about Sam! If it is time for Sam to go to doggie heaven, then do what you must do as hard as it will be. I know you would not let him suffer any more than possible. My thoughts and prayers are with you! Take as much time as you need before returning here. Everyone will understand.

Gary

Neil, from what I have read from the few posts I would say we are all in support of you taking care of your home life first and you have OUR blessings. The story can wait and so will we. We care about you and feel you need your time and attention there with Sam and your roommate.
Please take Care!!!

So sorry to hear about Sam! But I know You shall do what is best for her. (*8*)

It's been several years since Kev, and I, had to make the same decisions about our German Shepherd. She was 17 at the time. And, still, to this day, there are times we KNOW she is still with us, always in our hearts and minds.

Sometimes, our animals can be closer to us than other people! And that is because they still Love us, no matter what! :luv2: Take comfort in all the good times You've been able to share with Sam!

Our thoughts, and prayers, are with You All! (*8*)

Ted and his family will return on Friday morning, Sept. 8

Thank you for your kinds words and understanding.

Sam is still with us and is actually doing better again, and she isn't in any pain. The decision to 'let her go' still stands, but we are waiting until we are more able financially to do so, which will be in a week or two.

Of course, if she takes another turn, we will do what we must.
