watching video from other countries

I hoping someone will have suggestion.

There's a tv show I want to watch at history television in Canada. (history.ca).
It's called Ice Pilots NWT (I know go ahead and laugh at me)

I can go to their page, it's displays the episodes, lets me select an episode. But, it doesn't play. I assume it's region locked. (I live in the US)

Does anyone know a way around this?

I did check youtube, there's some episodes there, but not all.

Nat Geo is airing season 1 here right now. But, you never know what time or day. So, I'd really love to watch from the website.

They have DVDs for sale for season 1, but only in Canada right now.

You could do by spoofing your IP adress to make it appear that you are in Canada. Here is one easy way to do it:

You could also try another proxy or TOR if that doesn't work. Just google about spoofing your ip adress.

you mean "fake your http headers" ip spoofing is something different anyway that doesn't work anymore for the bigger players.

a canadian proxy is your best chance.

Yah I have that problem with videos in the UK also. Kind of stupid if you tell me but w/e. I would do IP spoofing but I would rather not risk my internet connection.

it will NOT help you with watching videos, since you would never get any reply to a spoofed packet.

THIS is a http header that some stupid admins check and believe that it tells them the users' real ip:

this is what you need to change. you will not "risk your internet connection" with that. but you will also not see many videos, because nowadays not many admins are that stupid.

Why is that some shows have regional code's on them like that?

Is it because in some countries it's against the law to view it?

I do know of regional coding in porn DVD'S.

^I'm not really sure. At the TV station I worked at the IT people region locked our video because we only had broadcast rights for the US.

They said allowing people in other countries to watch it could cause copyright problems.

Nat Geo here only runs season one.

But, tonight the Weather Channel started running season two.

A little weird it's split up on two networks, but as long as get to see season two I don't care.
