Our beloved chloe just died of old age. She was 17.

We kinda saw it coming for a while now. She's been getting thin and acting old. She slept with us last night. This morning I found her chillin' on the front porch. Brought her in because it was cold outside. We went grocery shopping and when we got back she was dead.

Buried her in the back beyond the fence.

We will miss that cat. Especially the bf. She was with him for 17 years.

Aww, sad. Sorry you lost the cat. That's always hard to lose a pet you have loved for that long.

How fortunate that you had one another as companions for so many years.

Always sad to lose them.

I too am sorry for the loss of your Chloe.

I know that the end for my cat is not far off. She is 14 1/2 years old. I have been trying to figure out where to bury her when the time comes. I do have a large backyard, but it is filled with criss-crossing sprinker water lines and the power lines that power up each sprinkler zone. In the past, I've used an area that I knew was free from that sort of underground utilities. But my thought process is that I don't think I should bury her in the same area, because I plan to sell the place and move within a year or so. The new owner may very well want to put in trees or fencing or even a driveway in the area I've used in the past. She may not have time to "return to nature" before the new owner digs up the ground. Maybe I worry to much....

My sincere condolences. A companion is a sweet thing. I know you'll have many dear memories as you go about your way in the coming months.

My Coco is noticeably slowing down, and I help her and coax her to find the warmest place in the house and to come back in soon when she insists on going out in the blast. Unsurprisingly, she is stubborn. I am anticipating her days will draw to a close in the next couple of years. She has a good life.
