Very funny head for your thread M10000.

Laughing good for you.

A part of the show was going inside a slaughterhouses of the largest meat processing companies.

They showed the process of what happens. The most gruesome part (that was shown) was the workers skinning the animals as they hang upside down.

A cow is killed when a 4" bolt is driven into the cow's head and they feel no pain after that. The procedure is done from behind so the cow does not see it coming.

Im sorry that the cow is killed but I dont feel so bad because the myth of slaughter houses has always made me wonder what happens.

So maybe others who at least have thought "I wonder how the cow got to my dinner plate" are comforted, as I was, knowing that the cow doesnt feel pain . . but unfortunately, that is probably the better meat processing plants.

Unfortunately, I think they said its only 1 billion cows that we eat and the process above doesnt apply to chicken.

Because of what my sister told me, I was curious and I went to Youtube where they showed cows being slaughtered. Very gruesome and disturbing. I hope that that that was a minority of how cows are killed.

Its one aspect of life that I really hate. To know that animals are being killed for me to eat. It is something I think about and that was part of the reason for the Oprah show. For us to be mindful (as Oprah would say) of where our meat comes from.

Where's the joke? I'm vegan and I usually don't do this but this whole post was a joke to me.

1. Not a minority of how they're killed
2. Not one of the better meat processing plants
3. How does the cow not feel pain? Where does the person reporting this get their information?
4. Why are you comforted by death?
5. Chickens are ten times worse and pigs, and trust me this is very minor considering other killings.

EARTHLINGS, PEOPLE...
Please try to imagine someone making a small circle around your ass with a deep severing knife and peeling off your skin as if it's the rind off an orange.

I'm not a huge vegan at all to people (the ones who constantly go around and say this stuff) but come on..

Sloppy,
You need to learn to speak English

I said hopefully that the bad meat processors with bad plants is in the minority and that most plants kill the cow as quickly as possible

The slaughterhouse video was taken at one of the largest processing plant in the US.

I watched a show. Im not an expert of how to kill a cow. I have seen where a cow is hung updaie down, had the throat cut and its dropped to the floor and it is writhing around. That wasnt happening in the video

Im comforted because cows were not being shown as in the description above. It was a quick killing

I said nothing about branding. Branding is gross.

I'm just trying to point out that most people use tons of more horrible ways to massively kill for the mass.

psh branding is so meaningless compared to a baby pig getting shot in the side of it's head. Or watching baby chicks falling off a ledge heading for a grinder while a worker just does their job. Also watching a lady with live puppies and throwing them in a river as if their toys, and laughing in the process.
Ugh and don't even get me on the subject of elephants in the circus.

If you are a meat eater, I think it's good to be mindful of where meat comes from and to know that a once living animal is part of the reason you are able to survive. It allows you to have a better respect for the animal, its life, and that the resource is not without sacrifice. I am not vegetarian, but I do think about this whenever I eat meat. I will say though that not all animals are slaughtered the way the show may have shown it. I couldn't remember who said it, but there are animals that are not "instantly" killed right away.

For the Oprah haters out there, I thought I would add a joke to the subject heading.

Oprah had a show about vegan. Is it me or does the word sound weird?

Much of her staff were vegans for a week.

A part of the show was going inside a slaughterhouses of the largest meat processing companies.

They showed the process of what happens. The most gruesome part (that was shown) was the workers skinning the animals as they hang upside down.

As Oprah said, there is alot of myths about what happens in a slaughterhouse.

A cow is killed when a 4" bolt is driven into the cow's head and they feel no pain after that. The procedure is done from behind so the cow does not see it coming.

Im sorry that the cow is killed but I dont feel so bad because the myth of slaughter houses has always made me wonder what happens.

My sister told me a horrible story when I was a kid. She said at the SPCA (thats what Canada calls it), they put animals into a box and suck out all the air. That statement and image in my head has haunted me.

I dont know what the SPCA does. I hope that they dont do that. Im sure they dont do that now. I hope they are given an injection for each and every animal that they have to put down.

So maybe others who at least have thought "I wonder how the cow got to my dinner plate" are comforted, as I was, knowing that the cow doesnt feel pain . . but unfortunately, that is probably the better meat processing plants.

I recently watched the movie 'Temple Grandin'. She is autistic and she designed a new system of gates that help to soothe cattle. As she said "it is designed in a cir cle so the cows just think they are going in a circle".

On a side note, after seeing Dr. Temple Grandin on a recent award show, I thought Claire Dane over-acted Grandin's mannerisms and speech pattern. If I was Temple, I would have said "I am not that bad"

At the same time, vegan looks boring and the show did nothing to "turn me on to vegan"

I knew Temple Grandin was doing something because I have seen her in the media but I didnt know what. I watched a documentary about her (The woman who talks? to cows) and I think her work is great and I have learned much by watching the movie and the documentary about her.

^ yeah... haha it sickens me just like you, never heard of that one. Watch the corporation, you can get it on youtube and they have a segment on hormone's they feed cow's for more milk production.
