I have some acquaintances who teach and post stuff like this. I can't imagine that this won't come around to bite them in the ass sooner or later. When you are teaching people's kids, you are held to a higher standard.

A teacher in an Australian school has resigned after students distributed the contents of his online sexual profile, reports The Manly Daily.

The 15-year veteran teacher worked at the exclusive $15k-a-year Pittwater House High School in Collaroy, Australia.

Students acquired the teacher's online profile by Googling a username he used for an educational website. The teacher accessed the website and projected it to a screen where students were able to see his username.

The students found a gay personal ad for the teacher which read, “I am a 40 year old cuddly bear who is looking for f**k buddy /friend for fun. I am happily partnered just looking to spice things up with a f**k.”

The students circulated naked pictures of the teacher and a description of his genitals and fetishes around the school after accessing the online profile. Parents were outraged when their children brought home the pictures.

I hope the parents punched their children in the face for being sociopaths.

I love the name of the newspaper The Manly Daily (A daily man? A man daily?)

If you like that, you'll love Manly Beach. :D

I do believe that teachers should be allowed to have an online life. But they should be very, very careful in what they enter in their profiles and who can see it. And they should assume that kids can and will find anything. I myself have a few usernames for different types of sites and I deleted my profile pictures when I had a teaching job. Also, I've been trying to get my last name off the net as much as possible (it's a dead giveaway), though that's a very difficult process.

Precautions aside, the internet's a public place. What you put on your profile can (in many cases) be read by anyone. You should treat your online text that way.

Good topic! Many people put up myspace pages and others, that really do follow you around forever! It may be cool when your younger, but when you go to get a job it may be what keeps you out of work.

Parents outraged? I bet the teacher was even less impressed. Was it detailed on the school's response?

It happened to a politician here in Ireland. He had a Gaydar profile with all kinds of kinky stuff in it and it was published in full in a Sunday newspaper - he just said 'Yeah that's me, what about it?' and that was the end of it.

Manly is a suburb.

On the one hand, as I've said many times before, this is why I don't use a face pic here. (I don't care if JUBbers know who I am; I don't want Google to know)

On the other hand, the Internet has changed our expectations of privacy, and as time goes on, it will get more and more like this Irish guy.

If only it weren't for the born-agains in the US.

Meh...everyone puts on personal Ads, wether it's in the internet, on a newspaper column or a magazine or whatever...MANY people do it, str8, gay and Bi people. It's his personal life, if people are too prudish that's their fucking problem...grow up and learn.

It's one thing to say this and it is another to keep your job. You will notice that the person who posted the personal information is no longer hired by his school -- and I would guess his future in education is gone -- period.

I'm not arguing that. What I'm arguing is other people's mindsets. Perhaps he should've been more careful (ie not using the same username or not posting nude pics for instance...) but still, for me, the problem lies in society's mindset. His teacher allright but he's still a human beings with natural human desires. I don't see why he should be condemned for being human. He's human, he's flawed, so are you. Period.
