So much for Democrats rolling over for dead-beat, racist Republicans. So much for Democrats ceding national security issues to the chicken hawk brigades of the GOP.
And that's how Democrats are going to beat Republicans between now and November 7, 2006.
The Republicans have gotten predictable. Before, Democrats running for office would be attacked or slandered by their Republican opponents, and some of the Dems were either too shocked at what they were hearing, or felt like if they ignored it the "comment" would go away.
NOT ANY MORE!
Here in Texas during the 2004 Congressional elections incumbent Chet Edwards, Democrat, was attacked by a former State Legislator Arlene Wolgemuth who was running to defeat him, and who had Bush's open support in that race.
She told reporters at a breakfast meet in greet in Waco one morning that, "Chet Edwards doesn't represent the family values of Central Texans."
When Chet Edwards was asked for his response at a luncheon the same day Chet responded, "And this from a woman, who when serving as a State Representative voted to cut the funding for the Child's Health Insurance Plan, leaving thousands of Texas families without health care for their children. If this is her idea of family values, then she's right I don't represent those type of family values."
She never recovered, and lost her bid to defeat Chet Edwards, even after Tom DeLay had redistricted Chet Edwards' district for his defeat!
George W. Bush is one of Democrat Chet Edwards more prominent constituents.
