I feel like I've put on a few pounds and I'd really like to get back into shape. Up until about May of 2006 I was a dancer and was always in great shape, but I haven't done it in a while and I feel like all I do is eat, sleep and work! hehe...I just want to get toned up again...Are there any diet tips and excercise tips (mainly abs and pectorals) that I could use at home? I don't really have access to a gym. I would greatly appreciate it. I want to look good for my bf by the time summer comes!

avoid junk food. Walk to places within walking distance.

There's lots of good exercise advice for free on the internet. Have a search and see what interests you. I like a mix of weights and cardio.

I try not to eat sugar and other white things like bread, potatoes, rice, etc.

Why not try a reduced simple carb, moderate complex carb, and high protein. Cut out the crappy junk food, white bread and baked potatos. Eat lots of lean protein, like fish or chicken. Why not give yoga or pilates a try? Mid-march i usually start reformer pilates sessions to get more cut for the summer. They help give you definition but you dont get the muscle bulk loss you can get from doing insane amounts of cardio. I've always notice when i amped up the cardio all i did was lose muscle size and not gain much definition.

Replace snacks with a can of V-8 juice. The fiber in the veggie juice will fill you up. You can replace breakfast, break, lunch and afternooon break with V-8 and tomato juice, then eat a good but sensible supper.

eat fish, brown rice and veggies....drink loads of water....jog, do push ups and sit ups...do something active at least 4 days a week. cut down sugar and fats....balance all of this and you'll be in the best shape(!)

The best diet is a well balanced one like they teach you in elementary... carbs, fruits, veggies, dairy, meat and minimal if any junk.

As to the simple workouts without gym access.... I'd say push ups and sit ups are great, squats are good (for legs) and then for aerobic you can run (I don't like running, but it'll keep you in good shape) or dance (great exercise) or karate or do any active activity that you enjoy really. If you hate doing it, you're not going to do it. So find something you like that is active and gets your heart rate up and do it regularly.

cut out sugars

Couldn't agree more. I'm an actor, and had to lose some weight for a role. I cut out soda and coffee, and nothing more. In all honesty, my diet/exercise plan didn't change except for decreased sugar intake, and I lost 15 pounds in four weeks. Keep us posted on how it goes!

Eat smaller portions.
Eat more frequently during the day.
Avoid large meals in the evening.
Exercise - even if that means walking or taking the stairs.

Eat a variety of things, and balance them well. Eat your 5+ servings of veggies a day, and avoid pasta and anything white - bread, potatoes, sugar, etc.

Eat the following - salmon, turkey, nuts, yogurt, broccoli, spinach, sweet potato, dairy, and lean beef.

Don't forget - "one serving" of anything is usually the size of your fist.

Eat Less. Take Multivitamins,Multiminerals, & Organic Plants' Concentrates.

Just a tip.
