So yes little embarassing to ask but aparently one of the side effects of the percocet from my doctor is constipation. Never happened to me before and was wondering if anybody knew of anything that can clear that up the fastest. I bought exlax and that is an overnight thing and doesnt seem to be working great. (Obviously don't want to eat too many of the litttle chocolates with that one.) so a little help would be much appreciated, as id like to poop as soon as possible. Lol.

That is probably something you don't want to force. It'll come when it's ready to come. Increasing fiber and water will most likely help. I'm no doctor, but I think you could cause more harm than good to yourself by trying to force yourself to poop while constipated.

Well the pharmacist advised me to get a laxitive when she explained the side effects so it cant be that bad ti use. I was doing what you at first its just been longer than I want between times.

Flax seed and coconut milk. The combination is fast acting and effective, but I would stick to the laxatives if that is what the pharmacist recommended.

The problem with the laxative that the pharmacist recommended is that it works by irritating the GI tract which draws water into the colon. This can set off a cycle of back and forth diarrhea-constipation.

You would be better to take a fiber supplement (like Metamucil or Citrucel) or just increase your dietary fruit and vegetable intake.

A stool softener such as Colace can sometimes help, as will increasing your activity level by walking if you feel up to it.

Take a tea spoon full of olive oil every night, it lubricates your tubes.
Its the best advise I had spent a lots of time ,stress, $$$ for somthing so simple good for you and cheap.

Didn't you take the percocet for wisdom teeth? Chances are, your prescription isn't long enough to actually cause any big problems, and once it's gone, your bowels will do their thing.

Fiber doesn't hurt. You're probably not getting enough anyway if you just had your teeth pulled.

A laxitive would probably work well too. Percocet slows down the GI sytem and laxitives speed it back up.

just curious... just flax seed and coconut milk, or flax seed oil??

is an enema advisable.???... but that could screw with your electrolytes i guess

how long has it been?

You really shouldn't be taking the percocet long enough for it to have this much of an effect on you. I had 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed at the same time and I didn't even need to touch my vicodin...Advil and sleep were just fine....but understandable that some people need the painkillers for it.

I'd say a laxative might be to extreme....just try a stool softener like Dulcolax....and try just de-stressing a bit...you seem really worked up about it...if you're stressed about not pooping...you're not gonna poop

I took percocet after surgery several years ago. I ate a lot of oatmeal and fruit and drank a lot of water and was fine.

Take a psyllium fibre capsule twice a day.

If more gay guys did this, there'd be far fewer problems. Ideally we could all get our fibre from what we eat, but if not, then psyllium fibre is a moderate, daily way to keep regular.
