  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

weird dream - can anyone explain ?

The dream was about this:

Lining up with other people shaking hands with President Obama and Michelle Obama.

Why is that so hard to understand? lol

Well Elvin, it probably has something with you not understanding dreams.

This does happen to fall into my area of experience and expertise. Interpretting dreams is an issue to be handled with some care.

First let us identify the people in the dream. It is that Telstra is all the subject in this dream and that includes the three individuals he identifies. Since it does not rest with anyone other than him to interpret that information it rests still with him.

The questions it raises for me are the following:
(1) Are their issues of power and success in Telstra's life?
(2) Is Telstra paying enough attention to his feminine and male sides of his personality?
(3) Hand shaking is about getting to know another person and the possibility of intimacy, so are their concerns about intimacy?
and (4) finally, are there issues of acceptance by people in power of authority over Telstra that he continues to struggle with and carry as worries?

Next, do any of those questions have anything to do with Telstras conscious concerens and his daily life? Only he can answer those questions, so a good counselor will step back and listen, and if necessary underscore what can be learned. Or one can just ignore the opportunity. It is a matter of choice. I say what can be learned, and try to glean that from the nocturnal display of standing in line to greet the Obamas.

And last, having begun to reflection on the dream, what questions does Telstra now have?

Thus ends my sermon..... (AMEN)
Shep+ :wave::-({|=:rolleyes:

The questions it raises for me are the following:
(1) Are their issues of power and success in Telstra's life? maybe, still working on it
(2) Is Telstra paying enough attention to his feminine and male sides of his personality? maybe not enough attention but still working on it
(3) Hand shaking is about getting to know another person and the possibility of intimacy, so are their concerns about intimacy? maybe ...?
and (4) finally, are there issues of acceptance by people in power of authority over Telstra that he continues to struggle with and carry as worries? No

I live with a house mate (gay).
He is pretty selfish. (hope he don't read this :) )

Looks like Shepherd beat me to it while I was typing, but I'll post anyway...maybe it'll help in your further thinking to have at least one set of symbolic meanings in front of ya. Good luck :)

I know that dream interpretation is about the softest science in the field, but here's what I found just googling around. You can take it our leave it, laugh at it even if you'd like, but I kinda think dreams are interesting, and admit I had a little fun looking into it...

From Dream Moods:

President
To see the president of your country in your dream, symbolizes authority, power and control. It may also represent your own personal views and opinions of the presidents and his actions.

Celebrities
To see a celebrity in your dream, represents your beliefs and understanding about him or her. Something in you waking life has triggered these similar beliefs and feelings ... Another interpretation of this dream is the notion that celebrities tend to be modern day heroes. In this regards, they take the place of the archetypal motifs of the hero. Thus the dream decpicts your ideals, goals and your own journey of creativity.

Handshake
To dream that you are shaking hands with someone, symbolizes either a new beginning or an ending to a situation. You have reached an agreement or a decision to a problem. The dream may also mean that you are welcoming something new into your life. In particular, if you are shaking hands with someone famous or someone important, then it suggests that you are well regarded by others.

Waiting
To dream that you are waiting, is indicative of issues of power/control and feelings of dependence/independence, especially in a relationship. Consider how you feel in the dream while you were waiting. If you are patient, then you know things will happen at their own pace. If you are impatient, then it may mean that you are being too demanding or that your expectations are too high.

Alternatively, the dream may denote your expectations and anxieties about some unknown situation or decision. There is a sense of anticipation. You are ready to take action.

Aye, that's why I also pasted in the portion on "Celebrity" for ya. I thought maybe since it's his title...you know what I mean, hehe. I could've gone all in depth and looked up his doctrine but I was looking for just the salient points. I wish I had dreams like that...mine are basically just my brain slapping me in the back of the head at night.

Given the Obama's are visiting Australia in March and was announced about 12 hours ago, you probably heard/read about it last night just before you went to bed, therefore still in your concious memory before falling asleep, thus likely to be dream about?

umm i heard the news but whether he visit Australia or not is non of my business so i don't think there is any connection there.

Well about the dream, i don't remember i shock hands with Barack but i did shock hands with Michelle, what a disappoint, the hand shake was soft like non hand shake.
Just My thinking it sounds like you might have had (one to many) and eat a big dinner (that give's me weird dreams) The soft hand was proudly your d@#k. Hope it was better when you woke up!! *|**|**|**|*I love mooring WOOD!

I don't put much stock in a universal symbolism of dreams. I believe it's all generated by the individual. Barack Obama means different things to different people. A Republican dreaming about him is going to mean something way different than a Democrat.

Seth's explanation of dreams makes the most sense to me. Paraphrasing, he says that dreams are a translation of inner experience into a physical context. Which explains to me why dreams are so strange and often include something we were thinking about or that happened to us recently.

We have a life beyond the physical that happens when we are sleeping, and most of it we don't remember after we wake up. Some it gets translated and we remember it as weird dreams.

Dreams mean nothing. Except in your case, Telstra, your dream confirms that you are a racist, a mysogynist, anti-American....and have boring dreams.
