Hey tech gurus I have a question about something that is happening with my Blu Ray Player and my Xbox When I am watching a dvd or blu ray the audio will skip for 10 seconds or so while the video still plays on same on occasion streaming content from hulu or netflix on my xbox will do the same thing too. I have a tv from 2007 the blu ray is from like 2015 or 2016 and An Xbox one S. For both I am using HDMI cables What could possible be going on?

Try using different HDMI cables to see if it might be the cables.

BUMP BUMP any other possible suggestions? All are welcomed!

Are your HDMI cables hooked into a switch box? I used a switch box because I had only two HDMI ports on my old Samsung TV. I needed three ports. So I had to use a Rocketfish switch box. That caused my Amazon Fire Stick audio to go out and I had to play around with the cables and switch box to get the audio to work right. Sometimes shutting down the switch box worked. I noticed it affected my blu-ray player too.

I finally went out and got a new TV with three HDMI ports. I no longer needed my switch box.

no switch box everything plugged into the tv tv purchased in 2007 blu ray probably 2015 maybe 16 Panasonic tv samsung blu!

Based on the fact that it is happening on multiple source devices with multiple HDMI cables, the fault is likely in the TV.

My guess would be a poor solder joint in the TV audio section that is now becoming intermittent.

If using inbuilt speakers, try headphones and vice versa to see if that helps as it might narrow down the issue.

Apart from getting a repairman to look at the TV, you could use an HDMI switch with audio extraction to combine all your sources into a single HDMI cable and use headphones or other amplified speakers to bypass the TVs audio section.

Have you ever heard of Dolby Headphone? It's a means of creating surround sound with a standard pair of headphones. I am getting quite good results from a Marantz NR1601 AVR (which acts as a HDMI switch) with its Dolby Headphone output into a pair of comfortable headphones. Granted it is not quite as good as proper surround sound from speakers, but is remarkable how good it does sound with some directionality. Being an old amplifier, they should be fairly cheap 2nd hand.

Thank you, Unfortunately the blu ray player decided to take a shit on me so now not using anything.

I thought you said it was also happening with the xbox and streaming, so wouldn't you want to still find out what is going wrong and fix it?

Also, you presumably would still be watching TV?

Considering the age of your equipment, could you obtain analogue audio from the xbox and use headphones or amplified speakers to bypass the TV audio to see if that helps?

It happens on occasion with the xbox hasn't happened in a while though hasn't happened on the new blu ray player and i'm using the same cables I think it might have really just been the player!
