Not that that's a bad thing. And I guess some of us weren't drawn here by the porn. I digress.

When I imagine having sex with a man, I hear porn music in my head. Uhhh

My question to you is are we damaging our minds or enhancing our lives?

I'm leaning towards damaging, but only because my porn-taught behavior turned off the last guy I hooked up with to a surprising degree... And ut got me thinking about the mentalities of those who look at a lot of porn versus those who don't, and how that effects real-world relationships. This guy was hot too! Ah well... Anyone else have similar experiences? Generally damaging or enhancing, what do you think?

Definitely is damaging us

When i'm reviewing for my exam
I usually do porn first and after that i tend to have a more effective concentration on my studies.
I'm usually top of my class. maybe its just a weird mechanism for me

I think there are some great things about porn and some not so great things about porn. I'm on the fence.

Allow me to explain.

I love that when I watch porn I can see different guys naked than just my boyfriend. Even though I'm very turned on by my boyfriend, there are other guys who I also find hot, so it helps keep things fresh.

I don't like porn because I'm over reliant on it to get off if I'm just jerking off by myself.

I don't see how porn could possibly be considered "enhancing to your mind." It's just porn, for chrissakes. If anything it dampens your imagination and makes it harder for you to get off when you're not doing it with a pornstar in crazy positions.

However, I think porn in moderation is fine for helping someone get off.

I think it's ok when you're single... but if you've got a BF, and you'd STILL rather look at porn - then yeah... you've got a problem.

On a somewhat related note, that goes with anything you're 'addicted' to though. My ex was (and IS) an EverQuest on line gamer junkie. I'd wake up at 2am, find him gone, go looking for him and find him playing that damn game. I would have rather he look at porn - at least then I might get some benefits from it when he got hot and bothered.

I think that's the key point.

I was actually looking for a gay community/forums when I found this site, not actual porn. The porn side is an added bonus, I suppose...

And as someone that prefers images over video, I don't think I can accurately answer the question posed.

You're right, there are definitely more important things going on in the world. By no means am I in denial of that! But I also like practicing internetting so that *maybe* I can become a legit cyborg someday, and fight evil forces like Iron Man does, or something.

..| After all, being a post-human like that would mean I was once a regular human (or "transhuman", if you will), which would also mean I'd need to deal with my desires to do things like socialize (which fully, lifelong cybernetic humans wouldn't have to worry about) - so, well, forum-posting is my way of slowly building internet-social skills, so when the computer overlords really do enslave (or enhance?) us all, I'll be ready to chat, smile, and fight crime all at the same time!

And PORN may be the perfect way to curb physical-world desires, as well. All the while fighting evil forces! I'm just trying to be logical.

Callum - Why no vids?

borg69unimatrix - Yes, very true... Addictions are almost always bad, yeah - and mostly an American/Western disease, I think.

But honestly the more we can train ourselves to live in a virtual world, the easier will our transition be into posthumanity.

What did porn teach you?

In my case it (and the attention given to porn by so many people) reinforced the universal nature of interest in each other's sensuality and pleasure. It has encouraged me to enjoy that side of humanity and enjoy my own sexuality with my guy. I think it is probably not the ultimate way for people to enjoy that sexual freedom, but it is miles better than the shame and isolation that were valued before the porn revolution.

I very much doubt that it is either one for most people.

bankside - I love your outlook - that's what I want to believe! But when I brought my "universal nature of interest" to this guy, he was freaked out by my dirty talk (honest expressions about how sexy I thought he looked) and my insistence of extended foreplay.

I guess porn taught me that it's OK to visually and physically take in a person's beauty without any concern as to how that "taking in" might make the other person feel - in this case, he was overwhelmed and creeped out that I found him so attractive, and wanted to put my mouth on parts of his body for extended periods of time. He just wanted to fuck, and not in any kind of hot position or something, just the way he had imagined it in his head, or something... I tried to be sensitive to his feelings, but his passive-agressive micro-managing of our hookup was such a turn-off!

Thanks a lot porn  You know? It's like, I finally found such a hot guy, and I just wanted to eat him up, and have some dirty and safe fun, but... #-o

Sounds horrendous!

I'm sorry you had to go through that. :(

:rotflmao::rotflmao::rotflmao: yours is the most impeccable logic on JUB :=D:

my bf and i def benefitted by a mutual interest in similar tastes of porn .. :sex:(!)

solo again i use porn as a stimulant but i know ... deep inside of me ... i wouldn't take it bare, and i can tell it isn't real ... but it sure feels good to play along... :gogirl:

it's not like i'm addicted to porn, or anything ... you know ...or like pot bellied & naked ... laid back in a recliner ... sitting on towels ...

*|* with one hand ... & working the mouse with the other ...

terabyte EXTERNAL hard drive clattering along & overheating trying to keep up with the download button

[-X nothing like that ... you know ... nothing at all...!oops!

!oops!I am nearly about to start my second terabyte drive. First one is nearly full. !oops!

i actually don't have much experience with hook-ups. and by not much i mean none, unless you count a couple of situations i turned down because it wasn't for me. My theory was always that it would be hard to find a good sexual sync with someone i just met, though i understand experience may vary. lol.

Anyway, my guy and i both enjoy porn, together or separately, and we've actually learned from it in ways that encourage our own creativity. i like porn but to be honest i think i would enjoy just a few ordinary folks with a slightly naughty exhibitionist side than the commercially pre-packaged scripted clichés that we sometimes get stuck with in porn.

I mean it is still great fantasy, but my curiosity about sexuality goes deeper than what studios think we want to see. Ultimately though I come down (I go down?) on the side of sexual expression and freedom and pushing boundaries a bit.

k, mega-post GO!!

altlover85 Awful, yes... A bruise-like memory. I felt like I was deflowering him or something (he's older than me!). Gosh, and the way he was dancing at that party.. Far from innocent.

spooger Hehe, thanks - just trying to speak unfiltered! Can't always be myself in person, might as well do it online. Anyway, that's FANTASTIC you and others can strengthen your relationships using porn as a tool - an enhancement, then, no doubt!

spooger, borg69unimatrix Terrabytes, gentlemen? I think that's fascinating. Porn studios should start offering Western Digital promo codes or something. Where's the suggestion box?

everyone - Be not ashamed! Right? I mean, if your addiction isn't bringing harm to others, nor physical harm to yourself - who's to say it's wrong? If it doesn't seem to be damaging your sex/intimate life - but making it better - then I say it's wrong to call it wrong.

Mmm! That's wonderful - why not explore our freedoms, right? But like you said, it's HARD to find someone to sexually sync with, especially in a hook-up situation...

I'm really fascinated by verbal communication during sex, which many people (and porn) seem to frown upon, unfortunately.

In that sense, has porn made us too bored with exotic turn-ons? Will we run out of new things to find sexy someday? Or just have so much sexiness to resort to, that we won't have to worry about actual sex at all? You know, what with its diseases and flirting and emotional leftovers - real sex is almost a hassle. That's relative to one's situation of course. But you know, (uh oh) our computer overlords won't have to give in to such petty desires as real sex, I imagine. I guess then our best bet to survive in a posthuman world could be by just sitting next to our partners - makin' out maybe - and mutually masturbating to all this weird porn, while typing away in our cybernetic pods that we'll have to live in once overpopulation cramps us in too much - and the only jobs anymore will be, like, World of Warcrack-esque fantasy worlds - which would really be fine since the internet and cyberpods serve our every need anyhow...:grrr::confused::grrr::confused::(

Woah sorry

AshyPhoenix, Ugh, any medical interference with our sexual desire is a bitch - I feel for you, man.

Clipping nails is a very practical activity, right? Well, is looking at porn then practical? Maybe you're addicted to clipping nails (you were joking, I know), but in that case I think we're talking less about an addiction and more of a habit, I suppose. A good, arguably healthy routine. Is looking at porn a healthy routine? Arguably, of course.

I think my choice to title this thread "We're all porn-addicts" was to incur the weight of that controversial term - "Porn addiction" - but at the same time I don't know if looking at porn is always as practical as, say, clipping one's nails. Why not? Idunno, that's why I polled the forum, I guess... Hmmm :) Good input, good point, sir...

But let's say we look at the history of nail-trimming, and it's cultural/sociological impact on humanity since the 6-8th centuries (Source) - would you say clipping has had more or less of a significant impact on society and the way people think on a daily basis than porn has since its internet revolution? Porn being that socially taboo, dirty secret nail-clipping wishes it had tattooed all over its neatly-trimmed body? Idunno, I don't think anyone's carrying the shame of having excessively clipped their nails before brunch with mother.

How damaging is the shame we carry having looked at so much porn?

Most Americans have enough shame to carry around, if you ask me.

Now, if your nail-clipping is getting outta hand, there might be a problem. What if clipping gets in the way of meeting your data-entry quota at work? Is that more or less serious than porn interfering? Is it more or less likely?

No, I think porn carries more weight than clipping.
