  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

What’s this “Baby Mama” and “Baby Daddy” thing.

^ Well, that would really depend upon how you define "common."

If you could get an accurate poll of what percentage of Americans use the term (outside of humorous or lampoons of it), it is likely very low, probably under 20%, in direct alignment with slums or the impoverished neighborhoods and schools.

So, if you work in a school in Iowa, probably never going to hear it. If you work in a school in Birmingham, probably never going to not hear it in a week's time.

I never hear the term in my world. Most people wouldn't.

It annoys me when people purposely use that term knowing it’s slang mainly in the business world. If you wanna talk like that at home fine but not the work place.
And insulting your manager's intelligence is professional?

You don't like slang in certain settings? Fine. Doesn't mean everyone should be subject to that. Personally I find formal and informal distinctions classist and pointless. So I strongly disagree with your stance. If the term communicates its intended meaning that is what matters.
