Since both appliances are only two years old, me try to fix. I McGuivered a piece for the dishwasher and it's holding, and I emptied out the fridge a little, unplugged it and let it rest a bit before hooking it back up. We'll see how that works. Both issues were our fault so I really can't blame anyone but us. My tooth will have to wait a bit.

funny I have a big frig like that one and for the first time its filled with food---Quarantine filled---was wondering how the Italians who love to shop everyday for fresh food for their meals can cope---its true they have small refrigerators

If you're doing this, let it remain unplugged for at least 8 hours so any ice built up around the fans or evaporator coils has a chance to melt. That happens, and if the case, will happen again eventually depending on the weather etc.

There are plenty of fridges for under £200.

Most of those in the article are under the counter refrigerators suitable for a college dorm room. No way an American family could keep enough food in it for 3 days.

So I found the part for my dishwasher. It's just down the street and costs $7. But they are closed to the public now. Leave a message and they'll call me back. Due to their decreased staff, it'll be about three weeks. Fuck that! I just ordered it on line from Truro, Nova Scotia.

Oh I have no problem with hand washing, but eldest daughter is stress baking, and she uses every friggin' pot, pan and dish in the kitchen ��.

Actually, I'd argue that maybe a dishwasher is important. It could potentially get dishes cleaner (and thus more sanitary) than hand washing. (This assumes a decent dishwasher, of course--there are ones that are said to be so bad that dishes come out dirtier than when they went in.) And dishwashers above a certain point also have a sanitize cycle. So if a COVID-19 virus crawls onto a dirty dish, it won't survive!

Plus there is just the sheer drudgery of washing dishes by hand...which I frankly despise doing--and uet have to do, since there is no dishwasher here. Next place will have a dishwasher. And, as Mrs. Slocombe on Are You Being Served? would say: "I am unanimous in that!"
