What are some good Haunting Ballads?

"I Will Not Take These Things For Granted" - Toad the Wet Sprocket
"Running To Standstill" - U2
"Questions In A World Of Blue" - Julee Cruise
"The Stage Is Bare" - Sandi Patti
"He Wants To Get Married" - Reba

It's definitely not haunting but you still might like it.

Evanescence - Good Enough

Lemme know if you like.

Oh yeah and I second Mariah Carey's Looking In. And The Wind by her too. Those are haunting.

Britney Spears- Everytime (Scumfrog Haunted Mix/Dub)

(A remix I know, but scumfrog gave it a very "haunting" feel to the vocals"

Still kinda gives me the creeps.

"you'll see" Madonna and "the look of love" and "live to tell" didn't mean to say all madonna but it's all I can think of right now since I was a huge fan as a kid."true colors' was a big one when I was a kid and that song from Godrfey and something called 'Cry"?anyone know what I'm talking about? the video was black and white and everyone was morphing(badly) and crying."don't answer me" alan parson project was another.

The song you are talking about is "Cry" by Godley and Creme -- and it was a great video!!

Strange Fruit By Billie Holiday is VERY haunting. Highly recommended. I think there's a good remix of it on the Verve 3 (I think) compilation. Its very much like the original... very dark.

:)

Oh how i loved ole school Dion. Her songs were just ( ), she could do now wrong. Her voice, her voice. Takes me back.

I agree with old school Celine Dion, the new stuff is good, but there's a rawness to the old stuff that's just awesome. However, I'd like to add "Fly" from Falling into You and "Je T'Aime Encore" from the One Heart CD to the list of haunting ballads. Simple and elegant, which is why I always preferred the original "My Heart Will Go On" from the Titanic soundtrack to the uber-polished version on Lets Talk About Love.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Annie Lennox's "Into the West" from the Return of the King. I get shivers listening to it; easily the best part of the movie.

how could i forget this one:

Haunted by Sense Field

the name really does say it all in this case...awesome, awesome song from a fantastic group.

Another vote for "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald." Dad and I saw her, at the Soo, 3 months before she sank.

Uninvited - Alanis Morissette
Hurt - Johnny Cash
9 Crimes - Damien Rice
The Drugs Don't Work - Ben Harper

Only God Knows Why- Kid Rock *piano version* *or accoustic guitar*
I want you- Madonna Featuring Massive Attack
The Needle and the Damage Done- Neil Young *may have been mentioned already.
