I just... noticed that I had downloaded the complete XXXXXXXXXX, which I always knew I kept, back in December 2004  may not be exactly the older ones but, still...

LOL, your post is a bit enigmatic, dear belamo :)

Does it count if they're not actually on the computer anymore? Because I have pages of sheet music and guitar chords that I printed off, and downloaded music that I taped, both dating back to 2001.

Are you saying that was the first time you downloaded?

I remember the first time I downloaded and being surprised that floppy discs could be wiped and re-used. I had assumed that this very expensive American invention was meant to be used once.

No, just what the title says: one of the oldest I still KEEP.

I remember downloading all the pics (and there were dozens of dozens) from one of the older versions of the official site of the Château de Versailles, back in the late 1990s... and stupid stuff like that.

^ I remember the bad old days.

I had a one-night-stand with a university student and I was dismayed to see that he had plastered his bedroom walls with pictures he obviously had torn out from the university library's art books.

I still remember the first song I downloaded off of Napster. Of course I don't have the file anymore.

"Music" by Madonna.

I still have porn that I downloaded from a BBS over a 2400 baud modem. Does that count? Hey, porn is porn.

ASCII Art leaves a lot to the imagination!

I still have all my email going back to about 1987. Back then it wasn't called email, just "Notes in your card reader"

You betcha' it counts. 600 baud modem downloading any gay stories I could find. While 600bps is a slow connection, it pales in comparison to how long it took to print out on my old Epson 9 pin printer.
When I was able to order a new computer, I had to choose between upgrading to a 2400 modem or a 20Mb hard drive over the 10Mb
I've lost more porn on HD crashes... It really hurts because it took soooo long to d/load.

Does Yahoo Messenger conversations count? I have conversations in my history from 2003.

I've probably got porn images and stories going back to the BBS days of the late 80's or early 90's. All archived onto CD's and flash drives for posterity :p or for my executor to sort through

The last edition of The Anarchist's Cookbook I have is from the late 90s.
