I was just doing some more reading on cookware. This time it was Club Aluminum, which was spurred on by seeing some pans in a thrift store like ones my mother had. Although the thrift store pans were interesting in that they had the original knobs on at least some lids. I remember my father replacing the knobs on our pans. (I can only assume that a knob or knobs cracked, prompting said replacement.) It was fun--but also sad--seeing something that reminded me of my childhood. Plus I admired how solid the pans were, unlike so many pans of today. But I was able to resist buying any of the pans, which A) I don't want to use (plain aluminum, which might not be the best thing, given that aluminum could leach into one's dinner), and B) I'm currently cooking with an induction hot plate (no working stove...) and aluminum won't work with induction. But if the color had been a neat color, instead of boring gold, I might have caved, anyway...
