Listenging to President Herzog being interviewed on Meet the Press.

The entire spiel sounds disgusting, a justification for the huge slaughter in response to the much smaller slaughter by Hamas.

We're all going to be sucked into this for the U.S. not doing something about it. The Arabs are right to blame us and hold us accountable when they go on the counteroffensive, and they will.

I'm sick of our national media giving Israeli apologists free propaganda time and time again instead of answering for their war crimes.

Anything for the Jewish vote in an election year.

Trying to get my breath and cough up anything I can without throwing up.

Yes, I saw the Cook's Country in the lineup, but if he tells me one more time how to whip my cream, I'm gonna call him out for meddling.

I will.

By the way, if you haven't caught the YouTube clips of What's Eating Dan?, he pours the charm and wit on generously there and is more relaxed.

He also did a standup routine somewhere on YouTube or . . . ? It was very good. May have been a Ted Talk. I don't recall.

I was hoping to get some work done today, but see, what had happened was... We have two-factor authentication for literally everything, and when they started this, I still used a dumb phone, so I needed a fob to sign in to the university's system. I finally caved and got a smartphone about a year ago, but I still use the fob because I don't like being forced to use my personal devices for work purposes. I went to sign in today, and I couldn't find my fob anywhere. Turns out it was still in the pocket of the pants I wore yesterday... which were in the wash.

So instead I'm browsing JUB.

I am exactly the same way about my company. They began transitioning from WebEx to Microsoft Teams for meeting at the end of last year, but the authentication was hosed up and wanted us to scan a bar code into our phones.

Fuck that.

I stayed with WebEx until it resolved months later.

During the pandemic, I almost got laid off for refusing to let the company say they could enter my home if they deemed it necessary. It was a boiler plate clause, no doubt due to the possibility of Worker's Comp claims and possibly bad ergonomic home work stations, but that's not what the policy said. It was a blank check to come in. When I challenged it, my bosses didn't defend me. It went to three levels above me and I was told I'd be given leave without pay until they let us return to work.

Finally, I relented IF they clarified in writing that the policy didn't mean what it said.

Companies with no check on power.

The two-factor authentication stuff annoys me to no end. We have USAA for insurance. They send e-mail saying "hey, you can look at your new policy now". Or something else. Yeah, no. They text a number to my phone which is somewhere, usually out in the truck and it's raining. Screw that. The proof of insurance card you need in your glove box? They send that as a PDF attached to an e-mail.

I'm not understanding their security model simply because if I were accessing their site From My Phone, how is sending a txt message with a code number to the same phone secure?

I mean, they send an e-mail. I click the link in the e-mail and if they do it right, they know who I am.

Hover over a link sometime. You get www.yomama.com/whatever? with a lot of random letters and numbers after the ?. Tracking stuff.

My bank can tell if it's me. Normally, no problem. If the ISP goes down and I tether my phone, I get the test questions. Because a hundred miles north of San Antonio is not the same as Atlanta, Georgia.

Treasury Direct is pretty slick. When you go to log-in you enter your user name. Next item is "enter the code we just sent to your e-mail address". And the e-mail arrives in maybe 30 seconds. Double click to highlight the code and drag it to the field in the browser. Next field is your password. Pretty slick. Easy to use.

Doing laundry later than usual this weekend.

Worried about Coco. She came limping into the den an hour or two ago, and apparently injured her front left foot jumping down from her cat tree (I guess).

She let me hold her and I examined it, twice, and she didn't protest or complain audibly or pull away, so I don't think it is broken, but she barely puts weight on it and shuffles her weight to her right foot just as soon as she can. Not sure if I should take her in to Pep Boys or some place tomorrow or not.

She still went outside and sat in the sun for an hour so isn't that laid up.

We're both kind of independent, so not used to worrying about her.

The fob dried out, and I was able to check my e-mail.

Last night as I was about to go to bed, my throat became sore. I ignored it and went to bed but since I got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom I took a small drink of apricot and brandy, which is sticky and has alcohol. This morning I felt better but at times was a little chilly, especially my hands. I took my temperature and it was 99.1 which is barely above the normal 98.6. Now I am warm and I took my temperature and it is 101.0. I have had a COVID shot and a flu shot, but not an RSV shot. I have a dentist appointment on Tuesday and I think I should cancel it.

Glad for the weekend. I invited my neighbor to brunch at Metro Diner. They do breakfast well.

I told her I had a gift certificate. I do. I bouught it myself. She won't fight over the tab this way.

;)

Edit:
OK. Al and Vannie have convinced me. I'm going to the kitchen and do a Palmolive bubble bath for my hands before I get ready.
The gift certificate hack is so clever. I'm going to use it next time I'm out with family.
