Does it have a battery? Replace the battery.
 
It does not...it is a direct low voltage unit in the house...but it is not new and the last couple of major power outages and storms seem to have addled it a bit.

The good news is that the heat pump is working okay...
 
This morning our newspaper was thrown into the snow in the yard and the city snow plows were throwing snow and hiding it. We had to dig to find it.

Aren't heat pumps ineffective at these temperatures? Or was that ellipsis indicating sarcasm?
 
We have in-ground geo-thermal and to make up the difference there is auxiliary heat, but normally it is just functioning on Heating level2 in the cold weather.
 
Feeling guilty because the neighbor that is 10 years older than me just cleaned the snow out of my driveway. It’s only 15F right now and I was waiting for tomorrow when it’s supposed to be 30.

A lovely nap this afternoon with silly dreams.

But coming back to life for the evening is going slowly...hoping I am not heading toward another bout of flu or a cold.

I've resigned myself to the $500 bill for January, and even bumped it to $600 in the budget so that I can declare a surplus when it only hits $500+.

Meanwhile, I just finished watching Margaret Hoover interview John Sununu on Firing Line. Despite repeated runs at it, she could not get him to describe Trump's insults to Haley as sexist nor could she get him to say he will not vote for Trump. Whereas I fully understand the GOP luminaries' reluctance to ever say they will not be loyal party members, that loyalty has gotten us into the pit we find ourselves in today. Tim Scott's recent reversal, on top of dozens and dozens of others' who are actually important GOP leaders, is a sure sign that they will close ranks around a man they know is against the Constitution.

The shameless scorekeeping that prevents the GOP from ever saying they have empowered fascism is going to eventually lead us to civil war. When Nixon fell, it wasn't really a thing to defend him afterwards. Not only do we have the opposite with Trump, we have it after he accurately predicted he could murder on the street and still be elected.

Oh, and after Sununu said as much as 35% of NH GOP voters were a cult of Trump, he then backed off his own words of calling them a cult. Can't have the truth making headlines, now can we?

Without his voters none of them think they could get elected.

We are trying to keep our noses warm today because the geo-thermal isn't able to get us beyond 17c. I didn't want someone to have to come out until tomorrow.
So shortly, I am going to go and snuggle under my down comforter and read mystery stories.
 
Looking through threads and seeing how quiet it gets after 8 or 9pm EST. It is like a ghost town. I notice it as I don't get home to 10 pm after working.

The site was inaccessible to some of us all day yesterday. When going to JUB, I got a security check from Cloudflare and then nothing.

Early, I could go to JUB but not be logged in, and could see the page showing recent posts on forums, but could not go to the forums.

I emailed the site and Mark responded the site was having some issues.

But, Hot Topics is pretty inactive some parts of the day.
 
Another work from home day today after the snow...waiting for the lane to be ploughed but nothing really to do in the office that I can't do here.

And at least later, I can nap at home.

Similar story for me. Cloudflare was taking forever.

I detach from social media and the web at 6pm every evening. The rest of the evening is dinner and then watching television until 9:30...then to bed to read for 1/2 hour.
