I just finished taking a chair apart. It was a recliner. A sort of Mission Style. Weighs a ton. The wood parts have 4x4s for the legs and by guessing weigh about 60 pounds each. I have the cushions off of the metal parts.
It's still going to be a pain to get rid do. The metal parts will go to my scrap metal pile. The wood parts are going on a brush pile for burning. The cushions may join the wood parts, time will tell.
Why get rid of it? The upholstery was fake leather and all of the "leather" has flaked off. He's had it covered with a couple of bath towels for a few years.

It was a decent chair but they cheaped on the upholstery. We bought it in February 2010. I thought it was older.

Just back from my morning walk. It is 65F outside. Several days ago I found that the sole of my New Balance sneakers (we used to call them tennis shoes) was peeling. Yesterday I went to the New Balance store and was going to look at sneakers with Velcro, but they had some sneakers by Kizik (which I never heard of before) which were slip on. I ended up buying them and wore them for a few hours yesterday. They are so comfortable that I wore them today for my walk.

I have a pair of Sketcher slip-ons that are incredibly comfortable. I love them. They’re washable too so if you get them wet it doesn’t do anything to them.

New Balance sneakers (we used to call them tennis shoes)

Even "sneakers" seems to be one of those "we used to call them" labels... Now they seem to insist on so many different labels. Is it helpful having shoes intended for "trail running" vs "track" vs mere walking? Or is it just another way to sell many shoes?

I'm in the process of looking for shoes... Maybe I'll try to get the courage to do some shopping today.

I've had both New Balance and Sketches one time each in the past. The New Balance was charming in that the ones I had were actually US made. They lasted a long time. Sketchers worked well, too.

But I'm cheap, so this time I'm not looking for specific brands, just the cheapest shoe that is likely to be acceptable.

Once I found out that New Balance shoes were selected as the shoes of the neo-Nazis in the US....I lost my appetite for them. Most of them time I wear Topsiders, but I don't have a need for walking shoes.

Out of the blue....this afternoon comes questions on a report we finished a month ago....from people who clearly had not read the entire document.

Ever thus. And with the oncoming weather, my head is hurting.

Another rainy Saturday...no gardening work...so I am now one full month behind where I usually would be at the end of April.

So....spending the day doing as little as possible indoors, but the kitty poop boxes are emptied and a lasagna made for 2 meals for us.

And catching up on some professional webinars in order to satisfy continued learning goals.....yaaaaaaawwwwwwwnnnnnn. So much safer though than going to conferences where I almost always end up with some viral illness after from the hoi polloi.

And about to go and read some classic trash mystery before nodding off for a nice nap.

I pruned some crape myrtles, thinning the branches, pulled the old bloom stalks from last year off the hostas at the side of the house, sprayed poison ivry around the place, and lopped some deserving privet "volunteers", all before washing the car.

Ready to eat some lunch.

Laundry. Which includes me hoping that a stain on a pair of new-to-me pants will come out. So I'm doing things with soaking and the strongest detergent I have that I usually don't do on laundry day.

Just unloaded the washer. The stain didn't fully come out. Sigh. But it's a lot better than it was.

Based on some past experience with this same pen, I was pretty pessimistic about the chances of getting the stain out. I was surprised it came out as well as it did, actually.

If only the pen had Washable Skrip ink in it, things might have been better!

Well...a little tuckered out from outdoor chores today....I don't think I will be able to do No Mow May this year....I would need a baler.

I don't really fret too much about it. we have 200 acres of grasses and wildflowers and about 3 acres of gardens...so the bees should have enough to get by.

It seems we have lost 3 hives of the 12 over the winter...so time to put out some fresh.

Just finished breakfast. I had 1 strip of bacon, finished some left-over scrambled egg from yesterday's French toast, about 1 egg worth, a 4.3 oz cup of fruit from Dole of apples and cream, a 5.5 oz glass of V-8 juice, and my 6 morning pills. Will probably take my morning walk in a little while. So far the weather is beautiful, it's in the low 70's F.

Listening to smooth jazz music and monitoring emails before I have to fire out a raft of docs at the very end of today....some of the team members who promise me to have their work by end of business day today will wait until 4:59 to send their stuff.
