  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Attention What are you doing at the moment? 2024-25

Just finished mowing the lawns. The first cut last week was like going through a hay field but today a little more civilized.

Hoping that I actually get to skip a few weeks at some point.

Last year, I didn't mow most of it until the first week of June, but this year it just came on so thick and long that I couldn't hold off.

Distracting myself from the cat issues, one of them is an old bat and she's ailing; keeps having urinary accidents, weird ones. Worried about kidney disease ect and so forth, dunnwanna have to go the euthanasia route. Roomie made a vet appointment but it obvs ain't here yet.

We have been there...with pee pads all over the house where our sweetie decided was the place to urinate.

Eventually she will go into renal failure and then you can make the decision. With Emma and Ruby thay didn't want to leave and we let them go naturally, but I now lean more toward not causing them pain.

Crying like a blithering fool over a book I just finished. Damn, the end was emotionally exhausting.

Well now I need to know what you were reading.

We know it wasn't Mr. Bunny's Very Good Day.

Spill. And I will tell you the last book that made me ugly cry.

The First To Die At the End by Adam Silvera.

I do remember the first book to make me cry, Where the Red Fern Grows.

Bored stupid at work...waiting for clients and team members to send along information needed to proceed.

So trawling the internet 'researching' instead.

Today is not going as planned. I went to Burger King to pick up a breakfast sandwich and the sign on the door said that their power was off and they were selling only 2 for $5 or 2 for $6 sandwiches and accepting only cash and no change would be given. Although I had the cash, I decided to go to McDonald's instead. I took it home and cut it in half and ate half plus a small fruit cup from Dole. Also when I started my car this morning 4 lights came on on the dash board; ABS, VSC, Track Off, and Brake. This happened about 2 months ago and it was something about a wiring harness that they had trouble figuring out which one, but eventually replaced. I assume it is a different wire this time. I'm without my car for now.

Ok...the last book that made me cry jagged was Sophie's Choice.

And I was a total mess watching the movie.

I recall Where the Red Fern grows. My 5th grade teacher read it out loud to us. Then, we got an encore performance the next year in 6th grade. I now wonder if one of the teachers was inspired by the other with book selections--I can remember at least one other book that I think appeared both years.

Today's excitement: laundry. First of (I'm guessing ) three loads this weekend. Some do wild, exciting things on the weekend, like road trips to fun places. I do laundry. Sigh.

Relaxing, following a double set double shot Saturday to extreme pleasure 😍

Just watched Seize The Grey win the Preakness. It was beautiful, even on a muddy track, but not thrilling.

Mystik Dan came in either 2nd or 3rd, so no Triple Crown this year, but Seize The Grey absolutely deserves the glory today. Oldest trainer in the history of the Preakness, is 88 years old.

Experiencing vertigo for the first time. If it's a stroke on its way, you may not hear from me. If it's just the common sort, it's a cheap high.

Finishing a breakfact of a scrambled egg in a tomato tortilla along with a glass of V8...as I work my way up to spending the morning planting the vegetable garden.

Just got back from my morning walk around the neighborhood. The woman across the street called about 8:15 AM this morning to let us know that she moved her trash from her yard to next to ours in our front yard because she is getting her sewer dug up and there was a truck blocking her front yard. Today is rubbish collection day and our trash is out by the street for pick-up. Now several big dump trucks with 2 rows of big tires and 2 or 3 rows of small tires on the back keep going up or down our street because they are going to redo our street. They are scrapping the top layer of asphalt off and will put a new layer down. So far, they are scrapping only 14 or 16 feet off of the middle and leaving about 4 or 5 feet on each end. Today is rubbish collection day and the rubbish trucks will have to go up and down our street as well as the mail truck. It is going to be a noisy and interesting day and few next days.

I, and everyone walk, in our street because we don't have sidewalks and this is a residential street with a supposedly slow speed limit. I had to be alert and watch out and move over for trucks this morning.

In for a break from planting. Everything is turned over, fertilized and raked out. Potatoes are finished and after lunch, I will do the beans and lettuce and then wait until it cools down a bit to plant the tomatoes.

Some things I am waiting until the 24th, which is considered the safe date for hard frosts. I have learned my lesson.
