What are you having for dinner tonight?

A rather unusual arrangement. Also, "tonight" doesn't apply - dinner was actually around 3PM.

Potato salad, baked beans, and USDA Prime ribeye steak (grilled outdoors).

The unusual part was that I'm in Portland, Oregon...only for the weekend. An exposition of sellers is Sunday - it's still Saturday here - and Saturday was spent with nearly 30 other hobbyists and dealers at somebody's house, an all day party. My plane stopped in Denver on the way, and stops in Denver going home Monday. At Denver I met up with a hobbyist friend who was flying here from Oklahoma City - who I've known since 1985 or earlier. We will fly to Denver together, also, from where we take different planes on the return trup, because my round trip is out of St. Louis.

The most unusual aspect is that the steaks we ate, came from his meat market in Oklahoma. All Nebraska corn-fed beef, and he wields serious quality control on the meats that he sells, so the steaks were yummy-and-beyond. Still not sure what umami is, but I think that taste was there; we Americans don't have such a precise word for it.

I'll be spending Sunday afternoon with NineOfClubs...every other aspect of the weekend relates to music and records.

This was so totally off my radar, but my Oklahoma friend offered to subsidize more than half the cost of my trip because he knew that I **SHOULD** experience this at least once in my lifetime. And yes, it was a blast. I even came in third in a trivia contest which, besides records, included fake names (Out of 17 names, 13 are real Doctor surnames in Portland...find the four fakes!), identifying year and make of classic cars (from pictures), identifying celebrities and music people, naming the stars of old TV westerns, matching up six fake addresses with the TV shows, etc. Most of these ctegories are BAD categories for me, and I knew both that I would do horribly bad with the Westerns, and the winner would be one of the ones doing well with the Westerns.

Check.

Check.

And...I played the record "Do Not Disturb"...as a "MYSTERY guess-the-artist" record...and I FOOLED A WHOLE LIVING ROOM FULL OF RECORD EXPERTS ON **ELVIS PRESLEY**!!!!!!!!!!! That was something I always thought was impossible - yes, I pulled off the HOLY GRAIL of mystery artist foolers. There's nothing I can do to "encore" that. EVER.
