  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Attention What are you having for dinner?

It is possible. It literally takes 3 sq feet. And if you get yourself a pasta/bread board of about 3x3 feet, you can slap it on a table and then roll out just about anything

I live in a New York City studio. A 3'x3' bread board would be at least half the floor space in my kitchen.
And I don't want flour getting spilled or sprinkled around the floor of the main room.

I fried a few chicken livers earlier this week. I'm of a mind to de-bread them, chop a couple, and make dirty rice. It is by far my favorite rice dish, even above rice pudding. I have the onions and peppers and white pepper to do it, and a leftover chicken leg quarter from a rotisserie chicken I vac-sealed a time ago. Could be one easy meal.

Yum /\ :)

I don't know. We have a lot of eggs. But I'm thinking about a quick sandwich of some sort.

Might be a an egg sandwich on nice whole wheat bread with some lettuce tomato and some avocado.

Or Chinese.

Maybe a pizza....

Or a hoagie

Leave me alone this is way to much pressure!

So, I was starting to make dirty rice for lunch, when I deviated, and well, it turned into gumbo.

I had added wild rice to white rice, beef boullion, bell pepper, onions, black pepper, white pepper, pepper flakes, garlic, Italian seasonings, celery, and a baked chicken quarter. Then I couldn't stop myself and sliced up some andouille sausage and dropped in large shrimp. I have like four quarts of it in jars in the fridge already.

At the end, I poked in about six or eight squares of that dried seaweed, for umami.

I had a big lunch so I am having Lemon Meringue Pie and a cup of Iced Starbucks Espresso - Black with an extra shot for dinner :luv2:

Are you in Florida or Arizona or SoCal? That's not a very February dessert.

Just had an early dinner of homemade Turkey Chilli and cornbread and salad.

Cornbread usually goes with chilli but I don't get it. I prefer a nice crusty french bread or something.

Depends on how the cornbread is made.

Made as a loaf, in a bread pan, cornbread is disgusting stuff. Never baked long enough, and nearly raw in the middle.

Good cornbread needs to be thin and crispy to get the flavour and texture I like. I only ever make it in a cast iron skillet.

But, in my opinion, most people, and nearly all restaurants never cook food long enough.
