  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Attention What are you having for dinner?

Definitely not cooking anything. Maybe I'll pick up some ravioli and a cold antipasto from one of our favorite places Bazzerelli's.

And a case of Merlot on the way home.

Spring rolls containing cabbage, bean sprout, peppers and carrot. Years ago they would have contained duck but nowadays we are holier than thou and never eat dead animals anymore.

Supper is veggies from one of the two terrific vegetable stands next to each other about three blocks from me. Ripe cherry tomatoes on stem for $1.99 a pound. sweet corn on the cob 4 for $1.50, and strawberries were 99 cents for a quart -- often that means they're not very good, but these smelled great, so I got two. There were a few with mold that had to be tossed, but the rest are delicious.

I had a very grown up sandwich made with chocolate hazelnut/almond butter.

Also a salad, some blueberries, and some cherries.

My bologna has a first name.....It's Oscar....my bologna has a second name it's Meyer....

Oh I love to eat it every day....and if you ask me why I'll say......

Cause Oscar Meyer had a way with BOLOGNA!

Thank you. No applause please.

Anyone else remember the segment on This American Life when David Sedaris sang the Oscar Meyer Bologna song in the voice of Billie Holiday?
He totally nailed her vocal mannerisms.

Mine is named Armour, and I had a 2nd slice, and breaded okra too. I'm a grazer.

Tonight, we pick up our friend from the airport and deliver her to her parents' house and then my partner and I are going to hit a favourite Japanese and Korean restaurant.

I will want everything of course.

I'm using some drumsticks and a pile of ginger I had lying around to make a gingery chicken soup. I was going to throw in some cilantro and other herbs but decided instead to swirl into the bowl some Indian mint-coriander chutney.

@Vannie, the chutney works better than I dared hope. Absolutely delicious. And it's good on grilled cheese sandwiches, too.

Swad brand Bombay Sandwich Spread. Should be available at any decent market where Indian groceries are sold (including regular old Trade Fair supermarkets in Queens).

You can also likely find Deep Foods, Mirch Masala Coriander chutney in your areas too.

I just had a boiled egg for lunch with this slathered on.
