  • Hi Guest - Did you know?

Attention What are you having for dinner?

If you say so. I can't get past the smell.

A few years ago some people here were on a nuke brussel sprouts kick. Then it warmed up and the house was closed because a/c. Yeah, y'all stop that!

I think it's genetic. When Mom was in the nursing home, a staple at lunch was mashed potatoes. Mom wouldn't touch them. Said they stink. They looked like mashed taters with parsley mixed in. I tried a taste and that's not parsley, that's very fine chopped broccoli. Blech.

When I was a young child I was extremely finicky, and one of the things I particularly hated was broccoli. When I was about nine, I astonished my mother by asking for broccoli. She said, "But you don't like broccoli." I replied, "I remember the taste and I like that taste now." Still one of my favorite vegetables, as long as it's cooked enough.

You and your family may be sensitive to sulfur. I just googled to see which vegetables are high in sulfur and they're all faves of mine: asparagus, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, red cabbage, leeks, onion, turnip tops, and watercress.

Last night was a Labor Day Nacho extravaganza and I ate too much. Layers of corn chips with sharp cheddar, Monterey Jack, Taco flavored ground chicken, tomatoes, black olives and for dipping, home made refried beans, salsa and sour cream.

Tonight is Keilbasa bites with roasted potatoes.

Picked up Peruvian Chicken with Spicy Green sauce and some dirty rice with black eyed peas. So good.

Neighbors brought us a homemade Key Lime Pie.

Other than whatever it is they make into chicken nuggets, vienna sausage, weird flavors of Spam, and cheap hotdogs, I don't think I've ever had ground chicken. I've never seen it in the store. But, folks talk about lamb and I've never seen that either.

I'm going to go with "picky eater".

I had some watercress once. Suppose to be "high class" or something. Tougher than raw spinach. Kind of like chewing on St. Augustine grass.

There was a German restaurant in Austin, Gunther's, oh, soooo good. I had the small Sampler Platter and ate it all. A couple of schnitzels and sausages and german tater salad and sauerkraut. Sauerkraut they made. Not that canned stuff from Libby's.

I puffed up so much that night I got out of bed (waterbed) to lay face down on the sofa the rest of the night. I had stretch marks for a month. If someone had lit a fart it would have burned all night.

Good time. :)

We went there several more times, I didn't eat all of the sauerkraut again.

I lose my appetite in the heat so it's going to be just a tomato sandwich on whole wheat bread with way too much mayonnaise.

Maybe a peanut butter and jelly later if I get hungry.

Then later, the piece de resistance: a chocolate milkshake

There are times I would chose a chocolate milkshake over a dick.

My thing for supper tonight is different. See, I get the big pork loins and slice them up with the electric knife. Then two "boneless chops" per bag and vac sealed. Like, hey, half an hour of work and about 15 meals into the freezer.

Tonight I thawed the meat. Dumped a can of mushroom soup with a full can of water into the skillet, got it hot , added black pepper, stirred it up and added the raw meat. Nope, didn't brown off the "chops". Just simmered for a while, maybe 40 minutes on a notch above Low. Mediun simmer if that hot. Added some rice, not much, and the meat is falling apart like a pot roast.

I think I have finally figured how to cook this stuff.

Samples taste pretty good. Even to me.

I 'm mostly sorta like for all I cook is "oh, the dogs will eat wall". Esp. when it's still 104F outside.

It's missing something. Seems to have a lot of that MSG flavor. Maybe a bit of salt. No, doesn't need salt. Needs something. Maybe a pat of butter? Pinch of sugar?

Anyway, hubby is chowing down and says it's great.

Yeah. I'm there. Skip the bread. Add some Italian dressing to the mayo. Have a few Ritz crackers.

And that would be when either of us visited the other. Which is generally how my sex life has worked.
If that's you with the big bush in your avatar, I wouldn't be so sure. ;)

I’m in Italy, Sicily really so I’m going to have some Italian…..food that is!

We had tacos last night. Just plain. Meat, duced tomato, and cheese with whatever hot sauce you wanted.

More tacos tonight. Same thing but I'm going to heat a can of refried beans. I have some flour tortillas. So smear refried beans on the flour tortilla, make your crispy shell taco, set in the middle of the bean smeared flour tortilla and fold the sides up. Taco shell shatters? No big deal.

If there's enough meat left, tomorrow is going be spaghetti saucy something. I may or may not add the remaining refried beans to the sauce. I did about a half cup a whle back and could not tell they were there.

It is a complete mystery today.

On the counter is a package of scallops. And a package of frozen homemade baked pasta.

I don't think they are going together, but I will let you know.
