Attention What are you having for dinner?

Stick it in the freezer. I regularly make several portions of meals like that and freeze the surplus.
I keep thinking I should freeze stuff...but I have limited refrigerator setup at the moment...

I remember not liking spaghetti as leftovers when I was young. I think it was something about the seasoning packages my mother used. When I started cooking--such as it was--I'd make pasta sauce from scratch, and that seemed to work well as leftovers.

Stomach bugging me a bit so I had 2 scrambled and some dry whole wheat toast and a cup of tea.

I froze half the sauce - will make fresh pasta when I have it.
I'd rather have well behaved pasta, myself.

It seems sensible to cook new pasta each time the sauce is served--it doesn't take that long, and it would be better. The valuable time savings would potentially be with the sauce.

Ikea (brand) Swedish meatballs over a bed of pasta noodles, green beans, and oatmeal raisin cookie(s). We planned to have dutch apple pie but we were a bit too full (due to large lunch).

Pepperoni pizza from Pizza Hut
I only have one pizza restaurant in my community and it is Pizza Hut. My fav from there is the Pepperoni Lovers (with beef added) on a thin crust. I can remember that before the covid pandemic (2020) that it was $12 for that large size pizza. Now it is like $19 before tax, tip, or delivery.

We do have 3 convenience store gas stations that have pizza.

I’m going to make kielbasa and sauerkraut in the instapot for dinner

I cooked a corned beef for dinner for New Year's Eve - having leftover corned beef sandwich for New Year's Day dinner.

Last evening was Rice-A-Roni. I could say I wanted the San Francisco Treat, but the real selling point was that it was easy and cheap. Particularly cheap, which was necessary given that the budget was used up for the month. At least, I can be grateful that the media and government tells me--or kept telling me before November--how good things are, and inflation isn't really a problem!!!!!!! It will be interesting to see if these figures suddenly see inflation as a problem by late January....

I ended up with about 50 cents left in the budget. Whoo, boy--what a buying binge I could have gone on!!!!!!

This Rice-A-Roni was "Spanish Rice." To which I added a can of unsalted Rotel tomatoes and half a can or so of kidney beans.

I remember in college I would wait for Kraft Macaroni and Cheese to be on sale at 4/$1 - now I buy it on sale at 4/$5

But don't worry - Donald Trump promised that he get grocery prices back down to what they were 4 years ago - at least that is what he said BEFORE he won the election.

I had a box of Kirkland breaded cod fillets from Costco that are pretty good.

Made a sandwich with lettuce and tomato and some tarter sauce on a Kaiser roll.

And I don't know about Kraft specifically, but in general, quality and quantity of product were probably often better decades back.

I'm not holding my breath waiting for this to happen.

Too early to worry about dinner here, but it might end up split pea soup. The budget is reset, but I won't be getting to a store until tomorrow. When I get to see how much prices have gone up since Monday. Oh, well--it sounds less awful thinking: this cost $1 less last year! Even though that price was the price just a few days ago!

I was wondering about Banquet dinners. It's been years since I bought one, and I remember the price was generally a $1--and remained $1 a shockingly long time. I looked at one store's site, and they now charge $1.90. Wow.

I'm cutting back for a few days after the holiday period. Tonight I had a little cheese (Red Leicester and Port Salut) with some Rosemary crackers and an apple.
