  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Attention What are you having for dinner?

Tonight it will be cold southern fried chicken with salads.

Although it is cool enough that warm dinne would be more appropriate.

I had made a real hearty Lentil Stew with chunky carrots and onions with celery and whole carmelized garlic cloves. Added large diced pieces of chicken from a leftover whole rotisserie chicken minus one breast.

Towards the end cooking time I added some crushed tomatoes and a pound of baby spinach and some cumin.

Had it with brown rice and a roasted and mashed sweet potato. Some good extra virgin olive oils from Greece. Was absolutely delicious if I do say so myself. :)

I was looking forward to freezing a few containers to have on hand. Unfortunately my sister called and had me on the phone for almost 3 hours because another one of my Nephews had pneumonia bad and was in the hospital with inflammation in his liver and lungs and peeing some blood. Yikes!

Anyhoo.....I ended up leaving my Lentil Stew out all night and had to throw it out. Was out way to long.

Thanks Guys for all the replies.

That sounds WAY TOO HEALTHY!

Glad they got your nephew to the hospital - hope he is doing better.

I'm on a train and arriving in Pittsburgh this evening. I'm planning to go to Primanti Bros. for one of their famous sandwiches. They're the ones with coleslaw and French fries IN the sandwich.

Primanti Bros. has many locations. They recently closed ones in Chambersburg and Hanover, which are too far from Pittsburgh. I'm probably going to the original in the Strip District.

Sorry to hear about your nephew. It was worth it to be a shoulder for your sister. Hope things work out good.

A dish that was either soupy stew, or stew-like soup that was made with lentils and various vegetables. Healthy, I suppose. Although the things I really like about lentils: fast to cook, cheap, fast to cook, cheap, and did I mention they cook fast and are cheap?

Some add hot water and stir split pea soup. I'm using so many dehydrated soups recently that perhaps I should go even further and use dehydrated water to make the soup. Just add water to the dehydrated water!

I also had a nutrition packed piece of cake off the clearance rack.

Thank you jjonn
me203....Rick and everyone. XO

Nephew was in hospital for 4 days. He is getting better at home now on heavy antibiotics.

My nephews and nieces seem to all get sick around this time yearly. I don't remember the last time I was very sick with all that congestion. Weird.

I'm probably going to get a pizza in a while. Don't feel like cooking anything.

/\ Does the timing have anything to do with kids going back to school?

I've heard/read that complaint/warning before.

OT;

I had some fresh broccoli starting to go rubbery, so I chopped it and other vegetables up while I pressed a brick of tofu, and then made an excellent tofu scramble to eat with leftover fried brown rice.

I'm not sure. My youngest Nephew is in his late 20's and oldest is approximately 50.

So they are all adults and work at various jobs. They just all seem to get sick a lot more than I do. I hardly ever get very sick. A minor cold rarely.

We had Thanksgiving Dinner v1.0 yesterday...so today will have sandwiches for supper.

Because tomorrow is Thanksgiving dinner v2.0 we are cooking.
