I've finally started watching 'House of Cards'. Its theme tune is exactly to my liking; simplistic yet powerful, elegant and unusually catchy.

Guys, I have to thank all of you for that amazing 2015 Music Thread, it's the most fun I've had since Christmas 2009! And the 2016 Music Thread is picking up right where the 2015 Thread left off.

Here's a song so old I feel the need for an explanation.

By 1965 it looked like The Beatles were going to dominate all music venues, laying waste to everything, and everyone, else.
But in 1965 the MOTOWN Music Hit Machine was firing on All Cylinders! Words will never capture the impact the Motown Sound had all across the country. "Hitsville USA" was awesome to behold, it seemed like each week a new hit song rang out across the country and I bet it made the "boys from across the pond" pause and take notice.

In 1965 , "Ain't That Peculiar", by Marvin Gaye, brought the house down. This song was everywhere when I was a kid. It became a sort of musical theme for my neighborhood that year. As a result, this song has kinda haunted me all my life. But it's a helluva song!

Dudes, they don't write songs like this anymore! Try keeping up with the lyrics, simply amazing. One of the highlights of this song is that piano riff that runs unbroken from beginning to end. When it hits the bridge of the song the keyboard breaks into a sorta "ragtime/boogie-woogie" styling - I just love it cuz it soooo "un-60's", lol.
