Dionne Farris - I Know

Love the mix of genres and influence goin' on in this track. As one Youtube commenter aptly writes, "Perfect combination of pop, bluegrass and R&B."

It’s unfortunate that this album continues to fly under the radar even 20 years after it was first released. Like Dionne Farris, Meshell Ndegeocello and Res, Cree is a black chick who can rock out like nobody’s business, but the industry doesn’t know what to do with those who aren’t the traditional R&B type.

Wow, the Cree Summer album "Street Faërie" was a used CD score for me like five years ago and still in my collection. It's a nice album - Lenny Kravitz on the production. She's primarily known as a cartoon and voiceover actress (a season of "Penny" from "Inspector Gadget" most notably) and too bad her musical career never quite took off but the album is so solid.

My listening tonight for smiles is this "Weird Al" Yankovic riff on "Bond" theme songs. ;) Too funny. "The name of this movie...is Spy Hard. They call it Spy Hard. You're watching Spy Hard! It's the theme from Spy Haaaaaarddddd!"

Another Cree/“Street Faerie” fan! Get outta here! :gogirl: Always knew Cree as an actress (loved her as Penny as well as Freddie on “A Different World” and the voice of Susie on “Rugrats”), but didn’t come across her music until 8 or 9 years ago when she was featured on a segment of Lenny Kravitz’s “Behind the Music” episode. Very solid record and eclectic too. Soul, rock, folk, funk, everything’s under the sun! :)

 Dig the Weird Al spy spoof! Never seen it before. I'm more familiar with his more popular stuff like “Eat It”, “Like a Surgeon” and this lil’ numba:
