Paula Cole - I Don't Want To Wait


This song charted back in the day for Paula Cole and was perhaps best known as the theme for the TV series "Dawson's Creek". If you're of a certain generation you'll definitely know it! (Although it was replaced for DVD/streaming and Cole is bittersweet about that.)

Its live performance in 1997 from a then 29-year-old Cole:

And she performed it live in 2018, a couple months before turning 50:


To me it's interesting to see how an artist "wears" a song through the song's lifespan and that artist's own lifetime. The later performance has more of her "life lived" in it and she can still hit those high notes if not quite as easily. These days she's, in part, a voice professor at Berklee College of Music!
