Ordinarily, the candied yams are my contribution (and no, there are no marshmallows involved)
THAT sounds wonderful. Could I have a recipe please?
non-Americans can GTFO... go enjoy your socialized medicine or something (I kid, I kid!)
^ I would suggest balsamic for the vinaigrette.
I forgot to mention I am bringing my friends babydog 4 year old Rotty some treats. Dog beef jerky, some other doggy treats, my friend wants to give him some beer too, I am bringing him bread (which is his favorite) and a banana and apple to try to see if he likes it, he has become quite finicky lately. last time he wouldn't eat a carrot or peanut butter or wavy bacon dog treats or dog biscuits. He also won't eat icecream anymore at home, he will only have fresh softserve from Checkers.

Definitely.

^^^This is as far as my cooking skills go
So, you're sticking a finger in?
Actually, snide remarks aside, I think the only thing I have against it is that is it too overused.
Funny, many favorite foods just seem traditional, but even then, I like at least a new take on them.
Maybe it is because we had green beans as a side too often when I grew up. I prefer almost any other fresh green vegetable.
Also, I learned to prefer fresh green beans more lightly cooked rather than the hot waterboarding practiced on them by Southerners.
A 22-lb. turkey for a dozen people. The usual sides. 4 home-made pies (I'm cooking the pumpkin from scratch, as my FB friends have seen) and cream puffs.
I can't remember what exactly goes in it. Usually my brother and I throw it together while making everything else and it's been his turn the last few years. It's basically:
Boil or steam green beans for a few minutes until tender, but still crisp.
Cool and dry.
Toss with toasted and chopped walnuts. You can add onions, too if you want.
Drizzle with a light vinaigrette (you can be creative here, but I keep it simple).
Top with salt, pepper and crumbled feta.

Definitely.
I should point out that I'm talking the real 24 year old 'oh my fucking God, that is expensive' balsamic.
