  • Hi Guest - Did you know?

What are your indulgences?

Murder, i'd hoped to stop at just the one but they're so morish.

And books.

Sorry but I get all of these but soda---how do you need money to get soda?

Without money its stealing. [-X

I am fairly poor now that I am on disability. Back when I worked it was not uncommon for me to drink up to 5 2 liters a day. I also had a $350 a month tea habit, but I was able to get rid of that when I realized how much I was spending.

Same here. Also perfumes, I absolutely love a good smell. Lately I found myself buying more and more accesories, like belts or bracelets, I don´t know if this counts.

If you enjoy a good smell may I suggest this site right here;

https://blackphoenixalchemylab.com/

We've bought several and they come with tiny free vials of other scents for you to try.

I got news for you but a mere $200 for a collectible toy is not high end.

For Power Rangers, it is. Occasionally, more expensive items will be released in Japan corresponding to the Super Sentai roots of Power Rangers, but stateside, these are the best we can get.

I did end up with a couple of transformer toys from the 80's; Got a megatron g! that turns into a gun and a g1 soundwave (I think) casset and tape player. I don't go about looking for specifics but when I find something interesting for a cheap price I do pick it up. Those toys just fell into my lap though, no buying required.

Do you feel the need to kill each victim in a different way. to collect a different form of murder with each kill?

I see you are correct. There was a time that a cost of under $5000 would not even draw interest from true collectors. How bad the economy must be that many of them are driven below that level.

I enjoy my collection of kitchen tools. They're mostly inexpensive, but are indulgent in the sense that I use some only occasionally.

Things like my truffle shaver, spaetzle press, benriner spiral slicer, wooden tortilla press, masa grinder, cold oil press, hand crank coconut scraper, aebleskiver/paniyaram pan, so on and so forth.

Are you able to recommend a meat grinder or a electric slicer?

Along those lines, I've developed an affinity for restoring vintage cast iron cookware. The older the better. Old cast iron has a smooth surface that modern cast iron just doesn't have anymore. It's literally not made the same way anymore and the old pieces are really superior. A properly seasoned and cared-for vintage piece is more non-stick than any high-tech pan you can buy now. Restoring is as easy as scouring off the rust with a Brillo pad, coating the pan in oil, and then baking it for an hour in the oven to season it. Tougher pans can require a few seasoning cycles, but the results are very well worth it.

Like food processors, I don't use commercial meat grinders because the repair costs and time spent in the shop is equal to the plain cost of a new home-use unit. Thus, I can recommend a meat grinder because I have to buy a new one every year or two. I'm pretty happy with LEM grinders, though the exact specs change a little over time. This is the one I've been using lately. It's affordable ($179 on Amazon) and efficient and should be plenty sturdy for home use.

I've only used commercial slicers, unfortunately, so can't be of help there. If I were shopping for one for home I would seriously consider looking at a restaurant supply shop for a low-end or used industrial unit. The retail machines look like crap to me, if not dangerous.

Mine are barely indulgences. I do go to plays and modern dance recitals, but the plays are community or college plays and not too much more than a movie. The dance recitals are more expensive but about six a year so that isn't too much.

I would rather buy a nice pair of wool slacks like I did today that easily cost over $100 new, but I find them at the thrift store for $2, only 1/3 of the cost to dry clean a pair
I enjoy an occasional trip to the thrift-store, but used clothes  no. just no.

My indulgence is definitely in books. I love browsing used books stores. I love the smell of books. I love the patina an old book's pages take on
Browsing used book stores can be fun...and I agree on the smell of books.
I have zero interest in so-called "e-books". Give me a 'real' (ie: paper) book, or give me nothing

I am absolutely crazy about music. I collect Lps, cds and even cassette tapes and yes sometimes I tend to overspend. I have a fantastic collection and I am proud of it.
I could sorta say music as well, but only in the form of CD's... and for me its all about getting stuff cheap though - garage sales/thrift stores/eBay/store closings/etc. Last fall I probably hauled home close to 50 CD's (some being "well that looks interesting") because they were $ .10 (yes 10 cents!) each, at a store going out of business.

Oh and I also somewhat say I collect certain types of electric lighting stuff as well. (but like with music, can in no way consider myself a true collector)

Entertainment related stuff. I'll be picking up a Nintendo Switch come March (preordering as soon as preorders become available probably after the Jan 12th big reveal) and I have a membership with Pirate 101 online MMORG. I've spent real world money for in game purchases. Not huge amounts, but a bit here and there.

I'd like to invest in a PS4 as well, though, I may get the Pro version... undecided as yet.

Last year I bought a new 43" 4K Vizio TV for my birthday. A new TV was needed as my old Toshiba plasma was leaking plasma and there was this huge black blob on the left side of the screen and it was just slowly getting bigger. Got a decent deal on the Vizio, on sale, and outta box. I spent about what I'd budgeted, top end of the budget but that included a two year warranty. I'm still paying it off... monthly payments doncha know.

I don't splurge on game related stuff much though. The last game I bought was The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD back in March of 2016 for the Wii-U. I'd like to get a copy of Xenoblade Chronicles X, but there's a rumour it's also being ported to the Switch so I'm holding off until that can be confirmed.

I'll also get the odd Blu-Ray movie. I have the Blu-Ray versions of Lord of the Rings Extended Edition, and The Hobbit Extended Edition on the To Buy list.

I'd spend more more money on travelling if I could afford it. I'm thinking of renewing my passport. I still wanna do the three-four week road trip down the West Coast from Vancouver to San Diego... if I can ever afford a car again.

I collect Star Wars toys; figures, ships, etc.

haven't bought anything lately as the new stuff is shit....did get 3 die-cast ships from Force Awakens

and I ALSO collect ancient, medieval, and world coins

I am definitely hoarding clothes and particular deadstock or vintage looking shoes. I recently found what by the collectors community is defined "my holy grail" so I am rather satisfied, even though I'd like to get a few other pairs of course. I'm doing my best to control the addiction

Now I'm tempted to collect videogames figurines but the well crafted ones are pretty expensive.

I would also like to own some more guitars, but I know I would feel bad about not needing all this stuff and then I don't have much room left.

Also, my clothes are starting to wear tight and I don't want to throw them away. The good thing about it all is that I like to buy items that are different from those I already have and I try to spend less money possible. Most of my shoes have been bought brand new and the few pairs that were not, they came from other collectors which means they were in excellent conditions just the same... otherwise it would be impossible to get a rare model. Clothes I buy them new: given all the online stores that sell decent quality and cheap apparel, there's no need to go to a physical store with overpriced items and stalking clerks or the outdoor market with cancer-causing items anymore. Most of these online stores offer free shipping and returns as well.
