If you don't understand what pride means from that story I'm sad for you. Go and get drunk and have fun.

true story. :=D: sometimes, people forget that being gay is NOT okay in the everyday world. they think that because they came out, are openly gay, and are around people that accept them for who they are means that everything is fine when it's not. i'm reminded of that everyday with the people that i'm surrounded by. that's why i would like to go to pride because it's a place where i can be allowed to be proud of who i am without having to hide it or be in fear of what others will think. but i'm not at that stage yet and it also annoys me when other gay men all try to use the whole "you're in the closet. just come out. it's easy" as if they know my situation or are in my shoes. i'm just trying to be smart about it because certain people might not take it nicely and i have to live and deal with them on a regular basis. it's not like i don't run into them once in a blue moon. i also am not ready to come out because of issues with myself. i'm just not ready. hell, i would expect my fellow gay counterparts to understand but they use it as a diss or a swipe which just shows you that they don't get it and are ignorant as if the world has completely change and rid itself of ignorant homophobes. i tell you.

” all of you, you all do this for yourself, no one else, absolutely no one else. I fought and still continue to do so for the the one person that gave me a reason to do so. What has happened.”

This guy marches in Denver's parade every year. He never fails to get a large round of applause.

but who cares?

It's their day to be proud of who they are if they need to wear speedos and glittery paint the more power to them.

why judge them? isn't that something we need to get away from?

I go to have a good time and they think they can bring their drama and bitchiness to the Pride event? I got tired of walking and some young asshole walk straight in front of me as if they were the center of the universe. Most of the people at the event aren't even friendly unless you are buying their product or joining their mailing service.

I decided to take your advice and stay home and you know what? I had a better fucking time staying home and enjoying a nice quiet day outside instead of hearing people bringing their drama and bullshit to everyone at Pride. I didn't care if they were showing their cock, covered in rainbow flags, it was their attitude that just made me disgusted. Everyone goes to these things to make new friends and have a good time not to be some shallow bitch and try to be a troll. Like Nomenclature said "FUCK PRIDE" I could care less about these shitty events.

I've never seen anything like that at Denver Pride. But then again, I have a feeling we're looking at it from two different angles.

The bullshit I've seen always seems to happen in the West Coast and North West of the U.S. I've gone to four different city Prides and the only one that was the best was the Pride in my local neighborhood. Everyone was nice and the drama and bullshit was left at the door.

I think they need to have a sign at every Pride event that says "LEAVE THE DRAMA AT THE GATES" people don't want to pay $20 fucking dollars to see how much of an asshole you can be, if people like that then GOOD FOR YOU!

who's the bitch here?

wake up and smell the rainbow.

It's called "ranting" if I wanted to be a bitch then I would but I'm only telling people my experience at Pride. Have you gone to Pride events on the West Coast? You might not have that bullshit at your Pride events but I certainly have them here in California.

Pride in Denver is free. No wonder you're bitchy. :)

Lex

Long Beach Pride was $20 for one day

Palm Springs Pride was $10 dollars for one day

Portland Pride was $7 dollars for one day.

The local Pride was free so I guess that's the reason I'm not so pissed off about the local Pride event as compared to the others.

I personally am iffy on this. I kinda want to go to pride, but I also thinking about sseing Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter.

I went to LB and I have to say that everyone was super friendly, so.... If I had any kind of genuine complaint, it'd be that because the festival grounds were spread out so far and so wide, the sense of togetherness felt a little lacking at times. :(

But truly not a big deal, so :).

I’m considering San Diego Pride (next month) and maybe even Las Vegas (September).

I've probably been to Long Beach Pride about two or three times, the second time was what really pissed me off because of all the drama going on and even a fight broke out where the cops had to be brought in. Out of all the three times the first time was the best experience since someone actually told me they saw me from my video blogs a couple of years ago which really made me turn red.

2nd year was just too much drama, it felt like either it was the alcohol or just some snotty stuck up guys were spreading the drama and negativity all over the grounds. Third year I finally went with my husband and he enjoyed it very much but then again it was the most expensive out of the prides I've been to so I didn't see myself going to the festival to spend another 20 dollars to roam the place. We did see the Parade on Sunday and it was actually pretty nice, not too hot and not too cold.

Even sat next to an older woman who said that she watches the parade every year and has been going for many years it was interesting to hear her experiences about the parades. I've determined that the festivals are just too wild and the parades are better to attend.

Wow all those places charging for Pride...I wouldn't be going if that was the case (especially for $10 or more)
How common is that? The 2 different Prides I've been to were both free

LOL I got a pic of that guy too
Doesn't look like there was many people watching the parade in that area?? (where I was there was allot more watchers...)

I went to my first Pride this year and it was a joke. Not because of old queens, though, but young ones.

"I am proud; thus, I will walk around in a speedo and gold, glittery body paint." Seriously?

I've seen worse @ MArdi Gras and Spring break in key west.

THANNNNNNNK you.

I'll never understand why it matters what who wears or what they do during Pride Parades. There are so many people in so many different outfits-- or hardly any outfit at all-- and it just.doesn't.matter. If you're not gonna have fun at Pride, stay home. No big deal. Don't hate on what other people choose to do for fun.

I plan on going to Seattle's parade, watching my coworkers and friends march, seeing some drag shows, then getting Drunky McDrunkerson with my friends at various beer gardens in the streets. In the rain. Yay Seattle!

I'm guessing some of the well known places have a fee of going in, right when you get in the gate they asked for money. I haven't been to L.A.or San Diego Pride yet but not sure if those are free or you have to pay. I've heard of some places where it's optional if you want to pay to donate to some sort of foundation but I guess not at the Prides I've been to.

To the OP, are you dressing up for the Mermaid Parade? I dress up nearly every year and walk in it (anyone with a costume can). It's a good time. So good that I'm actually disapointed that it's a day before Pride. Usually, they're a week apart which makes June an all-around more fun month.
Is it your first time there? It's quite an amazing mix of folks....you'll have fun.
This will be my first mermaid parade and no I'm not dressing up. I hope we don't get exhausted before pride; the heat is killing me already. I went to XL last night with some friends and I liked it a lot. I took a pic with Pierre Fitch and Jake Bass from cockyboys. :D The music was great; they had an amazing violinist doing a crazy improve. And I never seen so many hot guys under one roof at any other club since I've been checking out the " nyc scene" for 3rd year. I wonder if it's like that all the time or just for this special pride event.
