I have been gloriously meandering down my childhood memories. Just finished a Famous Five book. Glorious...is the word...:luv:

So many great books. So little time.

At the moment I've got three books I'm currently reading.

"S," which is a sort of book within a book presented as a puzzle...

I just did a little research about this book -- what an AMAZING recommendation.

I haven't read a "real" book since the very first Kindle came out -- but, since this one isn't available on Kindle -- I might need to actually go out and buy it.

I am beyond intrigued -- and super excited about this book.

Thanks!

^John Updike wrote a novel also called "S" (1988) and is the final installment of a trilogy that he wrote based on Hawthorne's Scarlet Letter. I read it back in the 1990s for a reading-group that had since been dissolved. It's in the form of letters (epistolary) and is best described as a satire. Not the most discussed of Updike's enormous output, but I was just curious that another author (Dorst) used the same title.

I'm currently reading Andre Aciman's Call Me By Your Name.

My research into the "S" book steered me towards Danielewski's "The Familiar" series. Has anyone here read any of those? Is it worth investing my time when only 5 of the 27 volumes has been written?

not into books, therefore zero books read

It seems it was World Book Day in England this week.

But this webpage seems only interested in Children.

Kids need books as it is a wonderful medium to be transported into another realm of imagination and inspiration.

In the UK, the Book Start program gifts books to kids from an early age. There are reading clubs for kids at school, and there are events where these kids can go to to meet keynote speech authors, and interact with other kids from other schools too. Part of school requirements is that kids select age and reading ability appropriate books to take home and read with an adult. The progress of their reading is recorded in a reading diary they are part of the points system that go toward team building at school too.
