What can one get from sweat?

I am just researching STIs and just wondered if there's any danger from licking armpits / feet / other potentially sweaty body parts.

Maybe even a non-STI possible to get from something like that?

It's possible but extremely unlikely.

It's important to put these things into perspective. There seems to be something that gets flagged about sexual contact, as if it's more likely to transmit disease. You're more likely to get a cold or the flu from just being in the same room or being sneezed upon. There's nothing particularly novel about sexual contact- it's just another method of transmitting communicable diseases.

Fortunately, most STIs are linked to body fluids like semen and we know how to prevent their transmission.

I admit, my fear of catching an infection is a part of my general fear of sex.
Probably my brain just (ab)uses it to justify my fear of sex, as it's an easy "point" to bring up.
After all, I have no issues with touching stuff in public and then eating a sandwich with my hand - without washing hands in advance.

It's a common problem. It's much like people who have a fear of flying, yet drive themselves to the airport without a care.

The worldwide aviation statistics say that in 2014, worldwide there were 265 people killed from over 30 million departures- an incredibly low risk of mortality. By contrast, the statistics in the US are that about 100 people die every day in auto accidents. Yet, we get into cars every day without considering the risk. It's the definition of irrational fear.

There are plenty of similar examples of irrational fear- the fear of immunizations/vaccines is another example. Everyone knows someone who has had the measles, chickenpox, the flu or other preventable diseases. Very few of us know anyone who has had a serious reaction to an immunization. Yet, a lot of people have an irrational fear of having an adverse reaction to the shots.

The fear of getting disease from sexual conduct is as much an irrational fear. It's connected very much with the belief that sex is wrong and somehow "dirty". In the case of STDs, there's a rational component to the fear that prompts people to use condoms or to avoid sex with a strangers. It becomes an irrational fear when extraordinary circumstances are the source of worry- like fear of getting an STD from a toilet seat or from kissing/frottage... or from sweat.
