Looks like the camera / phone that took the picture has the wrong white balance and exposure.
Things like mixed lighting can give the same effect - having the dress illuminated by fluorescent lights inside the shop while also looking out sunny window, etc.

It's as though Bel Ami had produced the image. All that's missing is an odd shaped oversized blurry penis.
 
It's a dress. Means I won't be buying it.

Just amuses me to see people lash out because other people have the nerve to talk about something they don't care about. It's a dress that is a different set of colors to other eyes and even under other lights - why the fuck should we NOT be talking about it? That's something I'd love to learn the science behind.

LOL so true, of course they're normally black guys that have the contrast turned up so high on their torso pic you think they're actually white.

That still doesn't apply to this dress photo. Someone obviously messed with the contrast and what not of this photo, but it's still looks like an off black and blue to me. lolz

I do have to say that the stuff that I see in the background, color-wise, looks completely unnaturally faded and unGodly yellowed with the white-and-gold version, rather washed-out with the middle version, and "natural" in the black and blue picture.

Also, IF YOU LOOK CAREFULLY at the very lower right of each image, a little bit of her leg is showing. Only the blue-and-black image has any leg skin that looks at all human.
 
That dress looks rubbish and Kim Kardashian and Cheryl Cole wouldn't want that ugly mess.

I think the sexual hierarchies around race in gay culture produces all kinds of stress responses. Asians wearing sunglasses in every single pic, visible non-whites listing themselves as white, Latino guys being tragically blonde, etc. White supremacy (or soft Eurocentrism) is probably the single most destructive force a gay person of color (in the United States) interacts with within the supposed LGBTQ community. So my response is sadness.
 
Madonna wouldn't touch that dress with a barge pole.

This is historic. Opthamologists just held a summit in Philadelphia and ended up discussing this instead of their original agenda.

Some are saying that what they learn from this photo might lead to medical advancements. The world has never seen anything like this.

A photo that leads to completely different visual results to different audiences.
 
Anyone who took little neuroscience should know the rods and cones in our eyes are limited. We aren't seeing everything that's there, or everything in the color spectrum. Some see more than others, but no on can see everything. My sister also said she saw blue and gold when she had tired eyes, but then when feeling refreshed white and gold. So that has something to do with it too.
