I realize that I forgot that the Scottish Parliament was only re-established a few years ago--and now occupying one of the ugliest buildings in Christendom. I also realize after reading up on the Act of Union that you are right in the sense that England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are regions within the larger UK, just as Castile and Aragon are regions within modern Spain, although they may have at one time been independent kingdoms.
