What Country is the Most Gay Friendly ?

France ???????????

Canada is great... I think the Province of Quebec is very gay friendly ( Montréal).

The Scandinavian countries immediately came to mind before I looked at the list, and they turn out good. ..|

If you want a good model for how a society should be, I always point to that part of the world.

High quality of life, good health, good education, environmentally aware, socially concious, secular.

:=D: :=D: :=D: :=D:

They set an example for all of us to follow.

Denmark, by far I think, is a gay friendly country. In Copenhagen, they've got a WEEK LoNg Gay Pride event!

I was born in the Netherlands, 1985. My American father was stationed there. Wish I was a Dutchman, but hey...I got an uncut dick out of it! ;). Don't hate. Seriously though, I'd love to go back to The Netherlands to check it out, since I can't remember it.

/\ agree, forgot to put Denmark on my list. Danes are also some of the best looking people on the planet.

And why is France not progressive? I thought they were more progressive than the US, I'm actually traveling to Paris later this year to investigate.

so has cologne.

unfortunately in the netherlands at the moment things are somewhat turning for the worse.
it's still much better there than in most other countries though.

but that list is somewhat weird. it seems to base "gay friendlyness" only on full, equal marriage rights. this IS an important point, but i don't think that it is something that automatically makes a country gay friendly ..

 Love this comment. ..|

Ugh... gay marriage alone does not mean it's a totally friendly gay friendly country. I know it's a step, but it's not the entire struggle.

Anyways, why are people saying the Netherlands is getting less progressive? What is going on?

No wonder that most of the countries listed are Social Democracies! Makes me happy. I live in Canada (Montreal) too and I would agree that Quebec in particular is a very progressive province.

In 2014 Toronto, ON Canada will host World PRIDE. Canada has to be fairly friendly. In 2012 London will host it.

Of course Holland wins -- no contest; and the other Scandinavian countries are all good. Trouble is -- they're all expensive places to live. But I'm recommending the Philippines! Most beautiful country on Earth, lush and green -- all islands and beaches, bananas and coconuts. Everyone speaks English, and you can retire in comfort on $10 a day. Gays are everywhere -- I think more than half the men are gay -- and the other half are all bi. A gay man will invite you up to meet his mother (and his little brothers . . . ).
Thailand is also pretty friendly in that way, as everyone knows.

I'm also wondering why the US is anywhere in the top ten... it belongs somewhere in the upper teen's or lowers twenties. Possibly lower.

Looks like Scandinavia is taking the lead. That's fine with me, I'm used to cold weather.

Denmark is more open than Netherlands I guess. My experiences were great there. Canada is fairly open and so are Scandinavian countries.

What is going on in the Netherlands that is making things worse?
