We know the length of vowels as much as we know that the words existed at all: you can not dismiss one part of all that came down to us and not distrust the rest, only because you forgot the important question of vowel length in classical Latin: that we don't know how exactly that length may have been produced is a different matter, but that there was the difference I referred to and that you forgot to mention, is about as sure as the rest of the sound of the words actually ever existed.

I ate two smaller sized durians; they were of two different varieties. Falling asleep was a bit difficult after eating all that; my body felt hot from eating the durians.

The toilet stank after I used it the morning after.

But they were really good durians. Thick, smooth, bittersweet, pungent... what's not to like?
