I am fascinated to know whether you american guys still get all dressed up for thanksgiving - kinda as in suit and tie / bowtie. or do you guys take it more casually these days. Also do you think it should be more formal or not - your thoughts on the matter would be good. Thanks.

Our family doesn't dress up at all. I had a polo style shirt and khaki shorts.

Ate at home with my partner, was in a pair of khaki pants, t-shirt, socks, and my UOPHX jacket.

Normally only dress up for special occasions (anniversaries, graduations, events, etc). so, I typically just dress casual.

My other half wanted us all dolled-up with new shirts and slacks this year when we went to a party put on by his friend's son and daughter in law. We found out most other men wore jeans and some wore holiday colored flannel shirts like one I have. Next time we'll revert to my traditional holiday party clothes of red and green plaid flannel shirt, new jeans and black sneakers.

Since I was only going to my brother's house for Thanksgiving, I wore my nice purple flannel shirt and black jeans. Despite being a kind good guy, my brother is a complete slob. Sorry to say, but it's true.

Now for the night before Thanksgiving, when I went to an underwear party in New York, I wore new red Jockey mesh trunks. Good enough?

I wore jeans and an oxford shirt when I was not wearing sweats or naked.

Jeans and a tee shirt. I had supper with my aunt and uncle.

magnum

later, a trojan enz.

it was formal.

I was in my PJ when I had Thankgiving dinner with my parents. My mom farted and we laughed.

It was casual....

black jeans, button-down shirt

The weather here was just a wee bit too cold to wear short pants.....

Wore my usually attire to TG dinner, Camo pants, camo jacket with a hunters orange vest, and my insulated gum rubbers.

I go out hunting every Thanksgiving morning and afternoon after eating.

I wore a simple gown (with sleeves--it was chilly), black stockings (sheer, because I didn't feel like shaving), a classy pair of two-inch heels (close-toed, because it was raining). I left the tiara at home because I didn't want the other guests to feel under-dressed.

I've never heard of dressing up fancy for Thanksgiving... but every year I hear about other people's baffling traditions and have to add it to my stock of "it takes all kinds."

I usually dress as I would for work: khakis, sweater over a t-shirt, and comfy shoes. My sweater this year was kind of Thanksgiving-y, soft pumpkin orange argyle with cream and cinnamon lozenges... it makes me look like a pie.

The rest of my family dresses as they ordinarily would for Casual Friday or going out in the daytime on a weekend.

I wore a nice pair of jeans, cashmere sweater and a dress shirt. I did put on some nice shoes because I spent thanksgiving at my BF's house and didn't want to make a bad impression.

I wore khakis and a sport shirt, Scot was in his jeans and a sweatshirt

We don't dress up unless they ask for us to dress up (which is rare). This year I just wore a sweater and jeans. Last year I wore blue long sleeve shirt and tan pants. Yup, I worked at Wal-Mart :P

Thanks guys and girls for making the effort to say what you wore. Much appreciated.
