  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

What did you have for dinner?

grilled chicken thighs as I mentioned in the original dinner thread ^

Last night - Homemade Spaghetti and Meatballs, sausage, Italian Bread.

I had yucky grilled chicken'

I will never buy chicken again. Mr. Perdue rot in your grave, you ruined chicken for all of us.

Clam Pizza? Is that with a white sauce or red? Sounds intriguing.

We're on vacation this week - short trip to Corning for a few days to take in the Corning Museum of Glass, The Rockwell Western Art Museum, and other ass't, sundry things as they may make themselves known.

Appetizer- Fried Calamari
Salad
Tried some of my daughter's soup - loaded baked potato
Entree - Grilled Flank Steak
Dessert - a NY Style Cheesecake/Carrot Cake Combo.
Cabernet Frank - a NY Fingerlakes Estate Vintner who helped pioneer the viniefera that would survive and thrive in our climate.
Nice, robust flavor, with just the right finish - definitely an oak aged wine instead of a bland stainless steel tanked wine.

Tpnight, went to a "local's" place called Spencer's, a little out of the main part of Corning.

I had tossed salad, good Italian Bread, and Lasagna.

My wife had a special for the night - Stuffed Chicken Breast with Mashed potatoes and a gravy or sauce that she said was very good. My 17YO had a Scallop & Broccolli dinner that normally is served over linguine. She is allergic to wheat, so we asked if they could do it over rice - they don't normally serve rice, but did it for her - was the winner of the night, I'm told - very good.

If you're looking for a place for a vacation, I highly recommend Corning - with The Corning Museum of Glass and the Rockwell Museum of Western Art, plus the Gaffer shops (glass blowers) on Martket Street, and all the other misc. shops, plus the NYS Winery Trail just outside of town, give or take, it's a great, quaint place to go. The CMoG is world class; The Rockwell is a pearl in an oyster - only takes acoule hours or so to do, but it is Well worth the trip.

This concludes my advertisement for supporting the economy of "the Other NY" - in this case, the Southern Tier along the PA border, and the whole Finger Lakes District.

^the clam pizza was with white sauce

Tonight we went to Bayley's lobster pound and had a fried scallop dinner

We're having fondue tonight to celebrate my friend's birthday. We're going to the Melting Pot, so it won't quite be the same as I'm used to, but it'll be my first fondue since leaving Switzerland, so I'm kind of excited.

Sounds like an old record stuck......
Grilled corn on the cob, grilled BBQ pork chops, mixed vegetables, and a fresh green salad with Raspberry dressing, and walnuts.

Shep+

Still pondering - wasn't hungry when we stopped to feed the kids on the way home - probably TGI Friday's Stroganoff that they brought home.
