  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

What did you have for dinner?

Having a discussion about this topic now.

A true Rochester gastronomic experience! I love garbage plates, especially from Nick Tahou's, where they originated! Way to go, Don!

For dinner tonight, Sir Ron had another local food tradition, the Friday Fish Fry, with beer-battered haddock, crispy french fries, and a big scoop of delicious cole slaw! :D

Ronboy,
Rochester area Fish Fries are good - I almost went with that, but the hots, potats. mac salad, meat hot sauce and raw onions were calling. I won't tell my cardiologist if you won't. I used to get a fish fry every Friday for lunch - but been trying to cut back on a lot of my faster food forays - been extra hungry this week, though, so I splurged a couple of times.

Sometimes a guy's gotta do what a guy's gotta do.

For those unfamililar - Nick's has been on the Food Network a few times.

They hold the Registered Trademark for the name - since I wasn't there, that's why I said it wasn't a real one.

Yeah, I've had the garbage plate at Nick Tahou's a couple times as well...a wonderful feast!!

SATURDAY DINNER: Half rack of barbecue ribs (fall-off-the-bone wonderfulness!), baked potato moistened with au jus sauce, salad bar, orange juice. All in all, not an overly huge meal for me, but satisfying for sure. I was one of a party-of-26!!

And five hours after the meal, I found out that the owner of that restaurant (this being in Madison, WIS.) is one of the moneybags boys for Governor Scott Walker, the Republican Governor which is trying to bring Wisconsin back to the 18th Century!

Li'l Bit had dinner for breakfast! Leftover stir-fried tofu and veggies in a homemade spicy peanut sauce.

Now maybe Li'l Bit will have cereal for dinner.

More Spaghetti and sauce w/ meatballs, sausage.

When we make a pot of sauce, we make a POT of sauce, lol.

Red Lobster had their all you can eat shrimp special. I think I depopulated the ocean of shrimp. That plus a caesar salad, baked potato and a mountain of cheddar bay biscuits. I don't be able to eat the rest of the week after eating all that.

Home Made Beef Stroganoff, sans mushrooms (kid is allergic).
On No Yolks Egg Noodles.

The kids done good!

Fettuccine topped with marinara and ground sweet Italian sausage and fresh grated parmesan.

How did you manage that?
My 16YO had some of that on Sunday - still don't know why.

Seafood chow fun from this good little Vietnamese deli.

Dessert was a cocktail of gin, aperol, cocchi americano, lemon and cointreau. Yum.

I ordered some stuffed ravioli from an Italian place and it didn't do so well after....

So tonight I am doing my own meat sauce atop some Rigatoni....
